I'm in a serious pinch and would like your guys advice.....If you had to place one three team parlay on Sunday what would be your choice of the three teams. (I need a win) I'm thinking of putting $200 on NY, Boston, and St. Louis but would like your advice because like I said I seriously have to win. BTW, this is my first time posting...I 've been reading for about a month now. I really would appreciate any advice and I wish you all the best of luck in your own picks. Thanks in advance

why a 3 team parlay ?

why not divide up the cash into 3 parts and bet one part on each fav ..

would work out better Spock thinks.

No easy money unfortunately .. better to lower the downside risk also ..

Thanks for your reply Spock.

Would straight bets be better? Without giving you the whole story, I've lost a lot of money on parlays (now I know how stupid it is) and I need to make some money quick and I figure parlays is the quickest way to do that because I don't have a great deal of money left in my bank. I know I must sound very ignorant but I'm actually a very well educated person (currently in college) and know a lot about sports but I know nothing about gambling and probably never should of started. For example, I was 74% picking college basketball this season but since I was doing all parlays I still ended about -$5000. I'll hit a hot strick on parlays and think I'm turning it around but then I'll go dead cold....I need to make some money to cover some debt and then get out for good. I respect the opinion of the handicappers on this board and would really appreciate any adivce you guys can give.

Look at my day. I know better. I should have stopped with St. Louis and those early plays. Now I'm in another 1,000.00 True the late games are looking favorable.... (oops) Don't chase. Just look at my day. I don't want to brag in any way but I generally do well enough to support myself and my girl on baseball and others misfortunate people on my books. I gave up half the money I made in 6 weeks in one day. Take it from me do not chase. Find one game you really like, put down 50-60% of what you were thinking on the three teamer and see what happens. All 3 of my 3 teamers failed today. 2 out of 3=0. I am not trying to be your father or mentor in any way, I just want you to see what Ego+Chasing equals. Not a whole lot; just hot air.

I appreciate your advise Theboundbook.

I understand you guys have been doing this a hell of lot longer than me so I could probably use the "mentoring." However, I'm kind of in a point were I have to chase. I hope to build a little bit of a cushion and then start doing straight bets. Unfortunately, I started gambling doing it the "sucker" way from the get go...always going for the big money and never looking at the big picture. If I just thought it through in the start I wouldn't have the problems I do now. Again, Thanks for taking the time to reply. Best of luck!

dont make any play tomorrow .. nothin like havin more patience ..
i am still tryin to learn that and now am really on high will power and self control to stop makin dumb plays ..

read some of the artciles on parlays .. one of them by nick douglas on chalk parlays shud be good .. i think it is in the forum
"Offshore sportsbooks " under general section.

Search for it or ask for threads from 3-4 months ago and u will find the article ..

Good luck

i agree with spock regarding 3 seperate bets ..but im assuming thats not an option and the games you mentioned are no doubt going to be laying a lot of chalk (boston, yanks)...now let me say that ill certainly contribute some thoughts and bounce some ideas around but im no expert or infallible...that said...lets try and get some winners here... YANKS seems like a logical play coming off a loss against lowly tampa...they cant lose two in a row can they???...ofcourse they can ...is it likely...well i would say no...they have been atrocious vs. lefties this year and pettite has some good numbers vs. them...but when i looked a little further into this game i noticed that sturtze is 2-0 vs. the yanks at home and pettite is 4-2 vs. tb at TB in 6 games...we should see how he pitches in domes ...and Pettite's ERA in the day is like 5...but he hasnt exactly pitched many innings this year

the sox look like a good play as well...but im pretty sure they have not won a series since the allstar break...Erickson is up and down..but Lowe looks like he is over his little dead arm spell..he is 0-2 vs. baltimore at home since 98...but not sure if those are starts..he pitched a one hitter against them eralier this year...fading erickson has been lucrative this year vs. good teams...he is 0-6 vs, winning teams this year...since 97 in 6 games at boston he is 4-2

the cards look like a good play as well on sunday coming off a loss vs. the cubs...looks to be a good pitching matchup..morris has a good history vs. the cubs at home and clemente is 0-2 vs. the cards...both losses at cards...

so that start us off on these games... lets look into these a little more ...COOZ...ps i rarely rarely parlay...a/r ..tease...whatever..straight bets are the best way to go in my humble opinion..

cooz .. good reply ..

one of the things I would like to point out is that u dont have to bet big to win $100.

Why not lay down $70 ... $70 and $65 on the 3 games ..

the % return u will get back will be same as what u get when ya bet $1000. Amount is different bcoz u r bettin low but still % return is same. Thats where the patience comes in.

e.g. lets say i have a goal of winning $30 for the day .. mebbe best way of doin it if u bet on favs is to see which fav has best chance of winnin and bet enuf to win $30 .. if bankroll is less keep the goal down also.

Hope this helps ya save money bn1

Good luck

COOZ: Thanks for taking the time to give me your thoughts on the games. I've been following/betting on all the games this season so I'm aware fo those stats but nothing from years past. So out of the three you'd say that NY is the weakest? would you suggest any other strong lock? I understand nobody's perfect and nothings a sure thing....just looking for opinions. Thanks again for taking the time to reply and best of luck!

Don't know what kind of hole your stuck in, but Prayin is right, don't make it worse. I'm in a huge whole this year, but this is fun money for me, it still sucks but bills are getting paid and food is in my gut. If 200 is pretty much all you can risk, for tomorrow, you may be better off playing three decent sized dogs seperately. Like +130 minimum. Maybe play them for 65 beans each. @ out of three gets you a pretty decent profit, then pull some back and do the same thing the next day. Look for guys like Madjack and some of the other Dawg players. With some solid but cautious capping you could pick up 4 or 5 hundred by the end of the week.

For me I'm in a terrible hole because I'm a college student and don't have the regular pay check to fall back on.....I have a business I run from fall to spring where I usually cover about 15,000 but it's the kind of work were it takes capital to make profit and I've burned all my capital...I need to make between 10,000-15,000 in the next 3 weeks or I'm done. Like I said before I know I probably come off sounding like a complete idiot and when it comes to gambling I would say I probably I'm one. I know I'm mostly likely screwed, just hoping maybe I can get some great advice and maybe turn it around. It's not over until it's over. Hell, if boston woulda won game 2 this week I would been up $5000 on Tuesday but as it stands I'm very negative this week after a good monday and a near good tuesday.

buddy

best advice you will get.

Keep the $200 you have safely locked away. You will find it useful for a month of dinner.

Play it tomorrow and chances are neither will there be any payback but no dinner also.

Also it is impossible to raise that kind of $$$ with the startin bankroll you have mentioned.

Live long and Prosper

Spock: I appreciate your time, but that's not really an option. I need to raise the capital for business in the fall or all is a loss no matter what. I know your advise is truely the absolute best I could ever get and I really do appreciate it but I can't follow through with it. Best of luck to you.

Since you are going to bet tomorrow. Spend alot of time on this board. All night if you have too. Watching opinions on games as they come in; asking questions; give your thoughts and why and check stats. Baseball is mostly stats and trends. (In my perception) The more informed, the better your chances.

Good luck BN I am sure you could read stories from many on this board for a long time on the path your on and where it leads to, but 3 weeks to raise 10 to 15 K with just 200, thats tuff not getting down on you by any means. Good luck, and keep us posted

I am in the same boat as you man... I have been on a terrible downslide latly, and need to come up with 15-20 k before football season, which can be done, but I am on a limited bank roll as well. Down to my last 2500. I have been chasing, and losing bad latley. There has been some guttwrenching losses that could of put me up huge, but then there are the games that I just get raped on after being up the entire time, and lose it in the 9th.

Like I always say though... NEVER SAY DIE, AND DON'T BE A QUITER!!
