You need to get those out of your house. You can send them to my home address. I will take it from there.

Very normal. The key to the whole thing is that in your message, you never once mentioned that your back was hurting. Sounds like it is working.

he gave me the valium for a muscle relaxant and the percocet for pain,i really screwed my back up but can't feel it now,but no joke this is a messed up feeling i am so screwed up feeling i'm afraid to lay down thinking i won't wake up,i am like a zombie everything is like super slow like i am looking out through a tv set,i feel like i am in a box, walked outside low 100's and that made it worse, then put copenhagen in that stayed in for 3mins made it worse and mouth like sand,i have did lots of stuff in my time but never felt like this, but taking it just like it said didnot double up or anything. hell its been almost 2 hours and its says take this every 4-6 right.shit forgot what i was going to say,i am a mush pie. thats why i posted games at 8am,gave them to jeri to play at aladdin cause i was told not todrive after i started taking this,he said sleep for 3-4 days,no shit i afraid i will for get how to breath, when pain comes back i think i will skip one and see if only one works, now to see which one to skip.weel this took almost 8mins to type but it felt like an hour.

Fletch,

You said 1mg valium, so that can't be the problem, 10mg (the sleeping pill type valium dose) may make you feel like you describe...

Different people react differently to the different narcotic pain killers (of which percocet is one (oxycodone+tylenol). Doses that should be equal with regards pain relief may cause varying sedation. Try half as much percocet and add a plain tylenol...Or switch to Tylenol #3 if you can get hold of your doc.

Maybe Azrusty can make a house call for a little back manipulation.

Get well soon

Did you ever think of a chiropractor? I know your in pain but the valium just "covers" the pain and don't cure it...feel better

Fletch,

you could definitely cut the valium in half then...it may be what is making you wobbly. I'd actually suggest laying off it til later tonight, then take the half dose before bed. Sometimes for muscle spasm I'll use 2 to 5mg every eight hours.

Superman...the valium sometimes helps a lot by stopping the spasm, relaxing the tight muscles, it's not really hiding the pain. A chiropractor is a fine idea, Azrusty (a chiro himself) can comment here, but if the pain & spasm is very severe, they can only do gentle treatments in the first few days.

Good Luck

Fletch I was going to have a little fun and say. Im no Doctor but I did stay at a Holliday Inn Express last night. I will say instead. That valium shit 10 mg every 6 to 8 hours. No fu?? way. Take bufferian or tylenol or that stuff. But don't get strung out on that valium. I seen what 20 mg a day did to my Sister. Shit she still wants that crap. Flush it and yes see someone like AZ.
Hey second opinion is better.

Fletch....

You'll be fine and stop worrying. Apparently, your tolerance for these type of medications is very low. Different people react to different medications in different ways. The longer you are on the medication, the higher your tolerance will become.

The Percocet you are taking is a schedule II narcotic which consists of 7.5 milligrams of Oxycodone and 500 milligrams of acetaminophen(tylenol). It is a very common pain medication and is in a different class than Hydrocodone which is the main ingridient in Lorcet and Lorcet Plus. Oxycodone is a tad stronger, and should give you a little more relief.

Personally, I've never seen too much of the combination Percocet & Valium. Valium comes in three milligram strengths of 2, 5, & 10. It's also known as Diazepam and is strictly used as a muscle relaxant. Your state of mind is understandable due to the combining of the two.

On your next dose, perhaps cut the Percocet in two and see if your pain is manageable. You might think about doing the same thing to your valium, or perhaps do not take it at all. BOTH these medications will make you drowsy, so try and get some sleep. I promise you'll wake back up!

First plumbing, then a little medicine/chemistry lesson and cure ...damn Jack, you've built a legend here.
I'm going to throw away my Yellow Pages (do you have them in the US/Canada?) and save a fortune on tradesman's bills

This is why they are scheduled drugs and why they are in demand in the black market. Many people LIKE to feel this way, lol. I think u just have a low tolerance for such medication. If u just hurt, just take the Percocet. IMO, that is a weird combo for the ER doc to give u. I know all about the back pain, so I hope u feel better soon. I would suggest some Physical Therapy as it really helped me. GL!

Fletch...

Just saw this....

I had oral surgery about two weeks ago. Was so screwed up with the darvocet that I just gave up. I can't take oxycodon or percacet..
None of those. They make me nuts as I have a very low tolerance for that kind of stuff.

So I went cold turkey with my meds after the oral surgery and just HURT for several days. Not fun to try to work when you don't feel good. Felt like telling every one to just f*ck off for a couple of days. Somehow I survived... whether I drove anyone off I dunno.

As far as your back... Yes... I would be interested in trying to help. But I am licensed in Arizona, not Nevada.

My brother lives in Las Vegas off of Tropican on Souvenier. THey know a good chiro.. I have a day off tomorrow but have an early dental appointment. IF I had known earlier I might have been able to come out there.

Even then... I am not willing to risk my license by working out of my jurisdiction.

If you wrenched your back...the meds will relieve the pain. But if there is a misaligned vertebra I don't think the meds will "fix" anything. Will help relax spasm and relieve pain till you feel better.

NO HEAT! Ice your lower back for 20 minutes on the hour. Wet paper towel against the skin to avoid frost bite. If you have a flexible ice pac... it is colder than ice coming out of freezer. Can get one at Walgreen's or whatever pharmacy/ drug store.

If you buy ice pacs... get two so you can use one while the other is re-freezing.

Two reasonably comfortable positions for relieving severe low back pain are:

Lying on back with knees bent.. like you would for doing sit ups. Or relax legs..and put a pillow under the legs.

Or lie on floor on back with legs up on a couch or chair with legs relaxed.. calves parallel to the floor. This will help decompress the lower back discs (L4 or L5 or L5/S1)... I dont know what you did.. so am covering the whole area.

YOu can MAKE your own ice pack by taking a zip lock bag.. add about a cup to 1 1/2 cups of ice.. crushed if you can. Add 1/2 cup water... apply to your lower back with wet paper towel against skin.. Duh.. a dry towel will prevent you from cooling down the muscles enough to do you much good.

Ice.. 20 minutes on the hour. It does NOT feel good. Purpose is to relax muscle spasm, relieve pain, and reduce inflammation (swelling).

Chiropractors use their hands to adjust..manually manipulate the spine. This may not be your cup of tea. Some people "buy in" to this type of therapy.. others don't. I've been in practice 20 years this month .. so it won't hurt my feelings if this type of therapy doesn't appeal to you.

I will call my brother in the morning and will get back with you. I think he is getting up very early in the morning so is already in bed now. He or his wife may have someone good to recommend that I refer to you.

Bro's wife works for Tom Coward who was a prominent Ford/Lincoln dealer there for years. He is semi-retired. She (Jean) has worked for him for over 20 years both in LV and in Camarillo, California.

Get better soon..... and I'll get back to you.

You can call me if you want....I will be out of here very early myself but will e mail Jack my phone number and my cell...

Later

AzRusty

az i will let you know when i get back, thanks for all the info,i know some people might say it cant hurt that bad its only a back,i know thats what i thought when i knew a friend thats had back problems, well i was wrong it sucks ,any way you move or body part like arm neck, legs can feel it all, this stupid pc chair of jeri's works good has all these curves that mold to the back and a place that your head fits in,looks like something from star wars got it at a place called relax you back,i have a good buzz going no-one to talk thats why i'm typing.
