Oh good:

Another moderate view of the world emanating from the wonderful state of Kansas. Maybe instead of killin defenseless animals for sport so that you Jayhawks can verify your manhood making up for that three inch extremity you have between your legs, we outta have open season on Kansans. Their political views seem to be quite alien to intelligent life on this planet.

Open season is a terrible idea.....Kansans' should be managed to prevent overpopulation, I'll give you that.

Kansans' are an important cog in the Great Plains, and American Eco-system. To systematically eliminate Kansans' would bring about a very destructive natural imbalance. Kansans' are vital to keeping the population of flaming liberals in check as Kansans' are one of the liberals' most voracious enemies.

Liberals have large appetites and a high metabolism. Left to their own devices, liberals will drain the land of their natural resources and human will to succeed. Kansans', although at times a burden, are well worth the trouble given the contributions they make toward thinning the liberal population and thus maintaining America's superiority in most realms of human endeavor.

- God Bless America.....God help you, poor, dear, Eddie.

My poor, disillusioned, fellow midwesterner:

How has Kansas contributed to this great country of ours other than by giving us Dorothy, Bob Dole and a sure bet against team in the second round of March Madness? However, you may be right that we need Kansans to balance the flaming liberals with arch-conservatives for us moderates in the middle.

What is the approximate percentatage non-white population of your wondrous state? Is my perception that most of Kansas' citizenry would remind those of us not familiar with your state of Auntie Em and Ms. Gulch?

Eddie, from the city

P.S. The only one draining the country of its natural resources is your near-neighbor George W. while taking care of his oil industry buddies at the expense of the rest of the country.

My vote is " Where the Buffalo Roam "

Maybe we could take the line from the song " Where seldom is heard a discouraging word " as a theme Jack ?

If you had the ability to lock out jerks it could be a peaceful quiet place where.......... as I wait on the deer stand looking for a mature 8-10-12 point buck to steal into view ever cautious ears twitching listening for the faintest movement of a sound out of place. His nose raised to the breeze to sense any stray scent of danger. The squirrel on the right has spotted me on the stand and is now chattering away dispelling all doubt that there is an intruder in the woods, KERPLASH the smacking of a beavers tail on the pond behind me leaves no doubt of an aliens presence in Natures once peaceful beautiful woods. I look long and hard trying to make out who or what made the crunching sound of leaves slowly making its way to me down the trail. My heart pounds inside my chest as I wait for what seems an eternity minutes pass and turn into an hour but still no more sign of the mature and wary buck that is just out of sight for me his buckskin and antlers fading into the background of the trees, the vertical lines of trees a perfect backdrop to hide his outline. Now the sun is reaching for the horizon closer to sunset as I slowly and carefully glance at my watch, the law & prudent safety concerns tell me that I am quickly running out of time, legal hunting time, common sense sets in and I realize that any discharge of my shotgun is dangerous to others who may be calling it a day and walking towards the road far off to my right. Yes I live in a world of watchs, clocks, deadlines and commitments and yes also hunting laws. I carefully unload my slug gun and start towards the car. BUT the buck has no such deadlines he never has to be home for supper, his supper is the nearest wheat field or stand of clover, maybe an ear of corn or two that the farmers corn picker missed. I step out of the spot I had quietly and calmly occupied for the last 4 hours and stride towards the road when "whoooofff" the buck snorts and spins around headed away from me at a pace only a deer can manage in such underbrush! I stop in my tracks and with the utmost respect for one of the woods greatest survivalists watch a huge whitetail vanish over the brow of the hill. And yes it is very large as it bounds away flipping and darting around trees and over logs that the last wind storm harvested before the lumberjack put them to good use. I am in awe of the beauty of the animal and my amazement in it is no less than that of one of our great frontiersman the likes of Daniel Boone. The fore-father's of our great country turned their deer and squirrel rifles on the British when the need came.

Need I say more ? This is a great idea Jack, and I hope to foster this forum as a peaceful place to come and enjoy the thoughts ideas, experiences of my fellow outdoorsmen & women.

Eddie, I've discerned four points from your response. I will try to address each.

1) Our state produces more wheat than any other and we have the biggest ball of twine.......and don't forget Dwight David Eisenhower. The Krauts and the Democrats never will.

2) Here's a newsflash for ya. When you look around and see Paul Wellstone, Teddy Kennedy, Jessie Jackson and the lovely Hillary.......that's not the middle, my friend.

3) As for our population, This is gathered from the 2000 census data. (numbers will not add up to 100 due to rounding effects)

Rednecks..86%
Black...........6%
Hispanic......7%
Asians.........2%
Redskins.....1%

As compared to the US as a whole:

White............75%
Hispanic........12%
Black.............12%
Asian..............4%
Injuns.............1%

For a farm state, I'd say we're diversifying quite nicely, thank you.
Minority numbers have grown by a large percentage here over the last decade. Race doesn't matter.....people seem to like it here.

4) I'm glad we've got someone in office taking care of Big Oil. As the Oil Companies go, so goes the country. Oil Companies are much maligned, usually unfairly. Oh sure, you get the occasional drunk driving an oil tanker. But Exxon has paid dearly for it.

I LOVE OIL. OIL RULES!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D

But more seriously. If getting the government off Big Oil's back is the definition of "helping his buddies" then I say he should help his buddies more often. Getting more oil domestically will only help the country, not hurt it. Besides, how am I suppose to drive my Ford Excursion to my deer stand if we don't pump more oil?
