The Rams saw this line once last year; opening week on the road against the Eagles. The Rams had so many questions going into that game last year on the defensive side of the ball with all the new faces. Those questions aren't there this year. Their only major defensive loss is London Fletcher who caused more harm than good with his intensity through all the flags that came his way. Their offense is going for 500 points in a season for the fourth straight year. The only thing that has ever hurt this team is their lack of concern for turnovers and the offense turned that philosophy around towards the end of the regular season through the NFC playoff run.
Denver has more questions. No longer are they at the top of the AFC. The return of Smith and McCaffrey will not be able to turn this offense into the juggernaut that they were in the late 90s. Too many players are gone, coming back from injuries or are just getting older. The offensive line is not as effective due to the greater frequency of flags that are flying in response to their leg -whips and cut-blocks. While their defense should be better, They don't have the offense to stay with the Rams.
The Rams have a perceived weakness on the grass but are actually a mediocre 6-7 since the 1999 season but would be 9-4 against a 3-point spread.
San Francisco -3 vs. New York Giants 3 units -115
Many posts so far about this game. I do not see a single unit on the Giants that is better than the 49er counterpart. Emotion goes far, but talent will win in the longrun in the pro game.
Pittsburgh -2.5 vs. New England 3 units
The Steelers know they let one get away last year at Heinz field. They were too focused on getting the Bus into the game and then ran him on pitches as if he's going to get outside, limited Zeroue to 4 touches a week after he pounded the Ravens, and abandoned the run way too early. The Pats were gutty throughout the playoffs, but the fact is their slow and unskilled. No matter how much they throw out the "respect" card, it's hard to do it with conviction when you've got a ring on your finger.
