If you really want the subject to die.....then quit resurrecting the thread when no one has typed in it for 13 hours. "Me think the lady protest too much" :s4:

The classic football pick was during the playoffs abunch of years ago,Browns at Pitt, then 2nd stringer Kelly Holcomb is in a surprise start against the Steelers.Nolan sees this and while admitting that he knows nothing what-so-ever about holcomb, bases his whole play on the presumtion that Holcomb must suck because he'd never heard of him before, the steelers D will this and that, Pitt and the under was his easy posted play.Of course those that knew something about Holcomb and Pitts iffy pass d that year went the other way,the right way.Cleveland lit up the Steelers for like 38 points, won outright as a large dog,the game was a raging over, and Cleve advanced, the biggest star of the game ,no doubt, was Kelly Holcomb, the guy Dalla based his whole play and "analysis" betting against.Couldn't have been more in the dark.

You're right about Nolans brilliant analysis, I remember that one, but the Browns lost that game. Holcomb put up huge numbers, the Browns scored a ton of points and the Browns covered, but they blew a huge lead in the last few minutes and lost. Not really here or there, but I remember that game well. Ohio State had just won the NC 2 days prior and the Browns looked like they were going to pull a big upset, but Butchie insisted on going with the prevent defense, against the DC's advice. Terrible choke job.

Just finished Nolan's book on Stu. Found this link on the Search fnc.

Wow, times change. More things change, the more they stay the same. Some people can't be happy, and bitch about anything.

Well, I came here to compliment the book. Thought it was very well-written and calloused, didn't appease the ghost of Ungar. Allows the reader to reach his own conclusion re: Ungar, which is the way it should be.

Yep, great book. Read it a couple years ago. I highly recommend it to anyone else.
