Well, last week was interesting. One thing in the amidst of uncertainty is that Pharlap will continue to bang out winners. I like getting the discussion rolling early to hear peoples opinion, so when the lines come out we will have gotten a heads start.

Anyway, without looking over the field and the course history, the fist name that sticks out to me when I think Riviera is Fred Couples. This guy doesn't have the short game or the nerves anymore to win, but I think a top 10 is definitely without question.

I have talked to some 'tour insiders' and they think this will be one of the largest Asian Media credential events ever with Ryo playing. I expect him to be hovering around the cut line, to ask anything else from him might be to much.
It does look like Paddy has a nice track history here, but the more I bet golf the more I notice track history isn't that important (see Mickelson the past 2 or 3 weeks)

I know Els was a late add here, I think he was itching to play again, but I have lost far too much money on him in the past year to back this guy. Maybe a long putter should be in his near future.

Lucas Glover is my dark horse..will probably add 1 or 2 more dark horses. By the way how many events is this in a row for Pat Perez?:scared I think it has to be 6 or 7..

I won't mention any particular injuries or potential fades in here, because I don't want the odds makers to be snooping around. :sadwave:

Last week was a betting bust, and I didn't get to see much on television. I had a parlay going that had a good shot, I needed the last round to overcome a 1 shot deficit though.

Ryo Ishikawa 200-1 the teenage sensation from Japan, playing this week. Huge news for the Japanese. With that is mind, I believe all the Japanese golfers will be trying their very best, knowing full well the coverage going on this week. Plus no PGA player from Japan wants to lose to the teenager.

The consider list this week and the Betfair odds--

Imada 100-1
Maruyama 150-1
Donald 28-1
Glover 80-1
Vaughn Taylor 160-1
And always on my list is Rose 75-1

I'm leaning toward Imada or Rose

The fade list is Goosen, Mallinger, Beem, Gay.

A lot of Europeans showed up this week. It makes for an interesting tournament.

Q. Can you talk about how you're playing right now and how you think your game might be suited to this course?
HUNTER MAHAN: Game feels good right now. Ball-striking, love where that is at right now. This course, being a little wet, you kind of want to get the ball up in the air off the tee on your second shots. I feel like I can just kind of do a lot of good stuff with my driver and irons and be able to work the ball pretty well.
This is an old-style course: Small greens, kind of narrow greens, and it seems like every green is different, which is so nice to see, but all unique. Just got to play it smart out here and be patient. The greens are rolling so fast and had a lot of break to them but the course is in phenomenal shape. I love looking at it, each and every hole out here, so I'm excited to be here.

Also if you have time, read Ryo's transcript, kid seems down to earth and humble.

My first post on this forum...

Van Pelt -105 to beat O?Hern (5dimes) 1 unit

Nick O'Hern is listed in the published field of next week's Northern Trust Open. The lefty was expected to return this month after thumb surgery on November 25 and having his right knee cleaned out in the interim. O'Hern has played in two Northern Trusts, missing the cut last year and finishing T-67 in 2007. Naturally, give him a couple of events to get his golf legs under him before adding him to your weekly list of options.

Donald -120 to beat Singh V. (Pinnacle) 1 unit

I landed on--
Vaughn Taylor to win 126.00

Here's a guy I have personally seen win his two tournaments. The Reno-Tahoe Open, twice. I was impressed by his youth and size. I was not impressed by his caddy, who was a prick.

Also Imada top `10----- 7.60
I almost never bet these props but it was a straight 10% of the win number, so what the hell, since I liked him to win as well.

Justin Rose dropped out today due to wife pregnancy.
2 year lurker here....1st post. Been betting golf 20 years now, and really have enjoyed your incite here.
I'm off to a good start this year, alot due to you guys. I've hit straight ups on Johnson and Watney, and should have with Stricker, but he melted down at the Hope on Sunday with a trip and a quad.
I play W/P/S with my "local friend" and we use beteagle.com as our odds source.
Sorry to be longwinded, but this week I have
Brian Gay
Robert Allenby
Rory Sabbatini
Hunter Mahan
all 4 of them W/P/S
I like Weir alot, but his odds suck.
I was going with Rose, until the aforementioned.
I quit matchups 10 years ago, as I decided I suck at them.
Good luck to all!

72 holes

Imada over Hoffman -110
Kuchar over Gay -110
Olgilvy over Els -110

Els even up with Olgilvy---Looks like the rest of the world has put Ernie in the journeyman class. No more free big numbers. Too bad, it was a good deal for a couple of years.

Els is still one of the top 10 ball strikers on tour in my opinion. He is also in the bottom half of the world (including us) when it comes to putting.

Ernie is 2nd in GIR's this year --
160th in putting..170th in total putting

If he ever has a decent day putting he will be in the top 5 of the event, just my opinion

Welcome Dallas, IMO the best info on the net, right here and right now.

Also, welcome to you too, Djouweu.

Agree'd the more the merrier.. Good luck to everyone this week.

Really love this course and this event, there aren't many historic courses on the rotation, let's hope the weather improves, the superintendent said before the rain the fairways and greens were playing at a US Open speed.
