Hey guys. Hope all is well with everyone. I've been a little absent from the board recently.

The law firm I've worked for.....for over 13 years.....eliminated my position last week. I knew the firm was contracting a bit but I never saw my job as an "at risk" position. Caught me off guard. Anyways, this isn't a poor, pitiful Bart thread. Just wanted to let my brothers (and sisters) know what's happening in life. I do hope all is well and I'm putting together my resume for the first time in forever. Weird feeling.

bart...sorry to hear the bad news...didn`t you just relocate as a sort of favor to your employer?(or is my memory failing me?).....

I worked for the gub`ment for some years earlier in my life and handled disability issues during part of my time there....seems like quite a few peeps are hitting the disability rolls of late and it`s a burgeoning business for law firms.....if you could somehow get a list of law firms specializing in diasability cases I`d tend to think that might be fertile ground.....at least a starting point...

you wouldn`t now happen to be in the Chicago area, would you?...

Exactly one year ago they relocated me to Atlanta. In the severance package, they are offering to move me wherever I choose. Pretty fair of them considering I did relocate just a year ago.

Glad u have a severance package. I'm traveling and working now BC of an unexpected job loss. It's scary when u lose that familiarity and comfort, but I think u will be just fine and very marketable. With ur severance and unemployment, I might suggest patience in your job search and relaxation (I mean u do have free money rolling in). Don't be complacent of course but don't jump on the first thing either. Play some golf, stay up late, visit friends/family, play a lot of poker, etc. Best wishes.

Bart, I have a few friends within firms in Atlanta and have no doubt with your skillset and personal charm you will be just fine. Reach out if you would like me to pass on your resume.

Best of luck to you B.

I'm not sure I want to continue on in HR at law firms. Maybe not even HR in general. That's where my skill set largely lies however. I'm 38 and at a crossroads on having to potentially reinvent myself. The world is my oyster right?

Sorry to hear. my college roommate , who lives in suburban ATL, is a lawyer who serves as CEO of the Georgia Medical Association. I can forward your resume to him If you decide to stick around that area. Good luck

Maybe tell Linz that you may as well start your professional gambling career and move to Vegas.

What a pain in the ass, bro, I feel for you. Right after they moved you way down there too. Just ugh.

If I hear of something I'll let you know.

Right now, the leading two candidates are to stay in Atlanta or to move to Asheville NC. It really depends on what presents itself though.

Bart,
Sorry to hear this man. I do hope things work out for you.
That said (that's for jaek) you have q desirable and malleable skill set. You can go into conflict resolution, civil meditation, etc...

Sorry to hear.
If I were you, I would check out this site https://www.theladders.com

You now have a job that you work at from 7am to 7pm where all you do is chase getting another job. Get on that shit and don't lag around. Don't let some douche slip into your dream job because you didn't move fast enough. You're a winner. Act like it. :0074
