Here we go again.

France breaks the Olympic Record in the prelim without their two best swimmers. Based on splits, they look like they are going to give the US a good run, and currently you can book them at +400.

Price is right for a play on Shipper in the 200 fly at +150, good odds for the current WR holder. Like Sullivan as well, but not sure if he's worth the chalk (-140).

Going to scower all of the obscure swimming sites out there and will post plays in a bit.

Taking Schipper +150 in the 200 Fly --- very tight field but a great price for the favorite. Aussie's are having a great meet on the girls side and look for it to continue.

Crunched the splits a million times and see the relay tonight being an absolute toss up. The fact that one of the teams is +400 in a coin flip scenerio makes no sense to me, but that's really how I see it.

Hate to do it, but I'll be kicking myself if it hits so....small play on France +400 in the 800 Free Relay. (play is actually on the field vs the US but no one else has a chance)

Sometimes it's great to be lucky --- have no idea how Australia put up that time but that's what the Olympics are all about.

Terrible capping out of me but I live to play another day.

Thought Brown was going to be in the top 3 for sure. This Olympics has had so many people come out of nowhere, especially the swimmers from China, who are in the mix in every event.

You guys dominate in the Winter Games anyway, you'll have your turn in two years.

Well yes true....90% of the funding has gone into the Winter Olympics, Canada will accept no less then top 3 in 2010. In fact Canada has a real shot at being number 1 in the winter. As for the summer......ummmm 0 medals isn't good:142smilie

Feel bad for the Canadian summer athletes though.....all the money pumped into the Winter, the summer athletes gotta be pissed about that. I'll tell ya one thing the Canadian athletes in the winter will be under massive pressure if Beijing continues to suck.

I know we aren't a powerhouse, but between swimming and diving we should have something:s1:

Peirsol -173....guy is a stud and knows how to win the close ones. This has been his race for close to 8 years now and expect a WR to fall.

Last night of swimming...and again some lines that just don't make a lot of sense.

Played two -- Field vs Hackett in the Mens 1500 +165: Hackett had a great prelim swim, but might have actually been too fast. I usually do not buy into the idea that people need to hold back in the prelims in order to rachet it up for an Olympic final, but that principle does carry some weight in the 1500. The race is grueling and I suspsect it will be very tough for Hackett to replicate that performance again. Wide open field, and a good price to have 7 capable guys against one.

USA to win the Women's 400 Medley Relay +275: Dead toss up in my opinion. We have the better backstroke split by a good margin and should be racing from out front from the start. Soni is having the meet of her life and will represent in the breastroke. Great price for a relay that is 50/50 at worst.

Haven't made a wager on the Mens 400 Medley, but this line is very very attractive if someone wants to take a shot on a live underdog.

Here is the time breakdown from the Aussies and Americans at this meet:

52.97 Stoeckel
59.65 Rickard
51.12 Lauterstein
47.05 Sullivan
3:30.79

52.54 Piersol
59.57 Hansen
50.58 Phelps
47.67 Lezak
3:30.36

Slight edge to the US but close enough that the relay exchanges will have a significant impact on the outcome.

Now here's the kicker: Australia is listed at +750 right now. Considering how spotty Hansen has been for the US, that's a hell of a line for someone willing to gamble.
