He did scam them..Accused and guilty.

Also why is he glorified when he was illegally using a fake ID to gambling @ 15.

If he wasn't a winner and a big name he would be ripped apart.

The guy spent 5 years illegally betting and gambling using a fake ID that's a joke.

I used a fake ID to get into a fucking bar.

He didn't cheat at all, not even close. Both those casinos were dumb as fuck, nobody to blame but themselves. I have played baccarat for over 20 years, everybody that knows the game knows about edge sorting. I can't believe both those casinos were that fucking stupid, if you think Phil cheated you have no clue what the fuck you are talking about.

No way in hell both those casinos will get that money back, in fact they should give an extra million to charity for being so fucking dumb.

How could a Pit Boss or casino floor manager not know what he was doing, fucking idiots.

Way to go Phil:00hour

I have no idea what happened, but your response leads me to ask the question...Maybe they were in on it too?

Casinos saw the money he transferred and they thought they'd take his millions, then those casinos got greedy agreeing to his outlandish request. I mean he said "don't change the cards" and the casino agreed, :142smilie

Greedy casino idiots got played, simple as that.

Well not all of the casino staff was "in on it" because now they want their money back:142smilie

It was so fucking obvious he was edge sorting (which is not cheating or illegal in UK or NJ) yet they did nothing.

Well done Phil, way to fuck em over:spotting:

Kick I don't agree.

So basically when bookmaker or 5dimes puts up a bad line and I am fortunate to see it and grab it...Then fuck them ? No basically they will fuck me. Same scenario...

Not the same thing, totally different actually.

Phil did nothing wrong in fact I applaud him, greedy casinos got what they deserved. It was so fucking obvious he was edge sorting and they just let it be, greedy pricks got what they deserved.

I hope Phil gets an extra 100 grand for having to deal with this lawsuit bullshit, he did nothing wrong.

Actually they are fairly the same in a fashion. In both instances, you are taking advantage of sloppy employees. I would even say Phil had a far greater edge than the guy getting the "best side" of wrong line. Phil already knew the outcome of some of the hands he was playing, where as you can grab a 10 point favorite as a 10 point dog, and still lose.

No he didn't. He never knew the outcome of any hand, that statement you made above is complete and total bullshit. He used a technique called edge sorting, in baccarat that sure as fuck doesn't mean he knew the outcome of any hand. He increased his edge on some hands by a small percentage, was it an advantage, yes it was, but to say he knew the result of a hand before the hand was completed is 100 percent false. To say there was a hand where he placed a bet and knew the result before he placed the bet is laughable, not even close to true. With the shoe he was using he would have to see all four cards before they were dealt, thus had no way of knowing the result of the hand before he placed a bet.

Now if you are saying the Borgata let him bet after the cards were dealt from the shoe then the Borgata should be shut down for incompetence.

And comparing a "bad line" to edge sorting is not even worth discussing, not even close to comparable.

I thought this happened a few years ago and he lost in court? Maybe I'm not rememebering correctly?

If he was open in his requests, and they were agreed to, I'm not sure what the problem is? It's not like a bad line at a book at all imo.

Both are still in the courts, neither one of them are finalized.

As for New Jersey.......

http://www.cardplayer.com/poker-new...phil-ivey-didn-t-commit-fraud-against-borgata

"A federal judge ruled that poker legend Phil Ivey didn?t commit fraud against Borgata."

"There were no criminal charges stemming from the sessions."

I hope both casinos have to pay Ivey for damages.

Unless I am mistaken, there is only one guy who has been linked to huge wins at this game in the news lately, that the casinos dub suspicious.

This story was posted a while ago. One of the "perks" Phil got, was to have the hands dealt out BEFORE he made his wager. Yes.....He knew the cards before the play was made. Although this isn't a help on every hand, it is certainly a huge edge to have.

Listen, the casinos allowed him to get away with what he did. I have no issue with people arguing that fact. But, let me ask you guys this:

If you played poker with Phil, and lost all of your money, and then found out he knew your hole cards, would you protest, or just say that Phil was smarter than you?

By the way, he lost in court today.

Truth...

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/201...ppeal-against-london-casino-over-his-77-mill/

He scammed them period. Sure they thought the house still had the advantage but he exploited a weakness in the cut of the cards not even the casino knew about....He exploited them...

So let me ask this then if its not comparable to the bad lines...

You go to the ATM and it gives you an extra 3 20's instead of the 5 you asked for...

You go home nothing happens.

You go back in 3 days and take 5 more it gives you 8.

This time the ATM busts you...But hey you should get to keep the money right ?

He was in the casino and specifically figured out a design flaw in the cut of the cards ONLY ONE MANUFACTURER and exploited that...and got busted.

Again this has nothing to do with what he did in baccarat. To compare what happened at Borgata to playing poker against him where he knows your cards is completely different.

You might as well say "If Phil killed your entire family would you protest?" It has nothing to do with this story.

The above has nothing to do with what he did in baccarat, absolutely nothing.
