The 13-10 Villanova Wildcats are in Philadelphia to take on the 14-9 Xavier Musketeers. Game time is noon eastern. Nova is -3.5/141.5. These two clubs met on January 14 in Cincinnati with Xavier winning 69-63.
Xavier is led by Zach Freemantle (16.5 ppg), Ryan Conwell (16 ppg, 38% from 3), Dayveon McKnight (9.9 ppg), Swain (10.3 ppg) and Foster (8.3 ppg, 45% from 3). Conwell single-handedly did in the ‘Cats 3 weeks ago hitting 6 3’s and scoring 34; most in the second half. Swain has been improving recently.
Xavier likes to press the pace while Villanova doesn’t. The Cats have been focusing on defense and have held their opponents under 65 points in their last 3. For Villanova, Dixon (23.8 ppg) has been slowing down in scoring but Longino and Poplar have picked up the pace.
This should be another tightly contested game going down to the last minute. On paper, it looks like an under. Nova will slow the pace as it did last game vs the Musketeers. Nova is due for a breakout offensively but Xavier is pretty good defensively.
