The Villanova Wildcats (11-7) are in Madison Square Garden for an 8:30 pm eastern tip vs. St. John’s (12-7). The Red Storm are -3.5/145.5. Broadcast is on FS1.
Both clubs are coming off of 1 point losses on Saturday. Nova to UCONN and St. John’s to Marquette. This is a crucial game for both clubs NCAA hopes. The Red Storm went into Villanova on January 6, got off to an early double digit lead and never relinquished it to win at Villanova for the first time in 30 years.
Joel Soriano had his typical 20 point game vs. Nova but Deniss Jenkins was the key to the win, hitting key shots and creating turnovers. Hopefully, having Justin Moore back for this game will improve Nova’s chances tonight. Moore must feel personally responsible for the UCONN loss as he was called for two offensive fouls in the last 90 seconds of the game. He’ll likely come up big tonight.
St John’s won last out vs Villanova with pressure defense and solid contributions from role players like Luis, Ledlum and Dingle. St. John’s is likely to throw multiple defenses again at the Cats. We’ll see what adjustments Nova put in to overcome it.
Money is going in on St John’s. The line seems a bit heavy to me as it’s likely to be a one possession game. I’ll take the points.
