The 18-13 Villanova Wildcats are in Madison Square Garden to battle the 7-24 Seton Hall Pirates in the opening round of the Big East Conference Championship. UCONN awaits the winner of this game. Nova is -10.5/126.5. Tip is 9:00 pm eastern on Peacock.
No doubt everyone on the Nova campus knows Coach Neptune is likely out barring a miracle run to win the Big East Championship. The players probably think they can save his job by winning the Tournament. Thinking it and doing it are two different things. Meanwhile, the Seton Hall Pirates have nothing to lose and will lay it all on the court tonight. When they last played, it took a huge Pirate scoring drought in the second half and an incredible 32 point effort by Eric Dixon for the Cats to take an ugly 59-54 victory.
Nova enters off an 8 day layoff. They are 5-3-1 to the Under on long rest. On the other hand, the Hall have lost 10 of their last 11 vs. Villanova. Expect to see Isaiah Coleman for the Hall and Eric Dixon for Nova to have epic games tonight. It’s a crap shoot to figure out what role players for either team will step up tonight. However, it’s likely that Seton Hall will employ the same strategy as last time: don’t let Nova shoot 3’s and slow the game to a crawl.
Nonetheless, I am betting a 5 point Nova/Over teaser. My guess is there will be quite a few foul shots at the end of the game. That favors the Cats.
