G at 1vice sent me a bonus offer which I accepted and was about to find my account there for the 1st time.

I then received an email from G indicating that the IP address I am using (which is from my verizon mobile hotspot cuz I'm at a conference in Tampa area) and my email address match a current account of theirs under a name I've never heard of.

I guess it is possible that my email was hacked and used by someone, but how would this hotspot IP address also have been used by the hacker?

Sounds fishy to me, especially since the email asks that I send a photo of myself holding up a photo ID.
As if:mj07: :mj07:

Well honestly if there is nothing wrong then you should not have an issue sending the ID as required, right? I am pretty sure no one else on this forum has been asked to ever do this and the reason is that there has never been a situation such as this.

The bonus offer was very generous and was intended for MadJack members who have an account but have never funded it.

As I told you in the email unfortunately a lot of your account info matches another account that was closed here.

I understand if you do not wish to send the ID and that's fine, but I unfortunately will not be able to accept your deposit and your account here will be closed so that you do not receive any more email offers.

No hard feeling my man, its standard procedure for most offshore shops to ask for ID when cases like this arise.

Thanks

Best of luck going forward.

I wouldn't send a photo of my drivers license or passport anyway, but i simply don't believe that my email address and this IP address were used by another account. It just isn't feasible. One or the other might be a hack or coincidence, but both makes no sense.

There are certainly no hard feelings. No feelings at all, really.

Almost forgot.....lmfao at this . As if:0002

Cie, Griffin is one of the most patient people out there and not one by any means trying to scam or trying to do anything with identify theft.

But your pushing it making it out to be a joke.

Chargebacks or manupluation by 2 and 3 parties involved occur daily and the cost is huge, which would eventually passed on to the player in lost breaks and fees that a sportsbook can give.

It was a private matter between the two of you...why bring it to a public forum?

If Jack and myself brought every private email and withdrawal or deposit issues on to the forum it would be bedlam.

Bookmaker, has these policies:

You will be required to fill out a Credit Card Authorization Form verifying the original charges before any payments will be processed. If you have deposited with an E-check you must also send a copy of a voided check and fill out an Authorization Form prior to a payout. Please contact Customer Service to request these forms.

Thanks, IE. I thought that his opening line was funny. Sorry if I offended you.

I posted here because I wanted to get the opinion of others who have had similar experience.

Let me know if you have any further questions.:0008

Thanks again to jack and griffin for resolving this for me. I look forward to patronizing 1vice now that the ID hurdle has been cleared:toast:

i always thought it was standard to send in ID

I primarily play at 5dimes and had to send in my ID and statement...

There is no bullshit when withdrawing from them, all fees are laid out, no stall tactics, and no problems with the method requested

Yep, standard for books to request copy of id. Most books also track ip addresses. I made a wager at my buddies house using his wifi and immediately had my account suspended (HE HAS AN ACCOUNT AT THE SAME BOOK). I had to call their security office and explain the situation. They said to never do that again or account would be suspended for good. He explained to me that their policy states 1 account per household. This is done so people cannot keep signing up for new accounts and abuse the sign up bonus.
So I never wager at open wifi locations in case another person has wagered using that ip address, which is what I'm guessing happened in your situation.
Cheers:toast:

Hmm, first time I've seen a man, or even a woman, say or type the phrase "as if" in 18 years. Possibly you just watched the movie Clueless and it is fresh in your head.

Not uncommon what he asks you to provide in this situation. There is no phishing, no hacker in this case.

Cie, there is a greater chance of what 1Vice is trying to defend against compared to your "idea" of what could have happened.

No one will ever know what happened, but you pushing the issue and making jokes (prior to my post) gives the impression you are an amateur on the defensive.

Sorry if you don't like my opinion, but you created the thread and I responded.

I am an amateur handicapper. I get a kick out of all the blowhards around here who wager thousands and beat their chests about how much they win, but I'm not one of you. Sports wagering is something I do for fun. Outside of college football and golf, I rarely win.

As for the thread, while I've been an amateur multi-sport capper for 20 years, my experience with offshore outfits is very limited . Personally, I wouldn't give copies of my ID to any bookie. In particular, what I was asked to do here was take a photo of myself holding my ID. I found that strikingly odd, so came here to determine whether or or not it was a scam.

If you get a chance, send me your address and I'll drop a soap on a rope in the mail. Cheers:toast:

Funny, I've never been in trouble with the law bedsides traffic violations.

You could still refer to me as a convict since it makes you happy.

I'm glad the true scam was averted.

My fault. Must have confused you with another professional gambler who served time after knocking off an animal hospital for ketamine.

Cie, my last post about it. Seems like the Madjack's crew is pretty thick, have been around for a long time and play at the sponsored books since if there is a prob, Jack will assist.

Seems bush league that the thread was created, especially since Griff is one of the more visible/generous book personalities here. Being the brain dead past club drug user that I was, it seems that a simple call to Griff would have answered your question if he sent the email requesting your id to prove your identity.

It seems to me maybe 9 of 10 MJ posters would have done what I mentioned before making this thread about possible phishing. There obviously was some concern on 1v's end. They just didn't make it up. People do funny things to save face.

I'm not here to poke cheap shots at anyone, contrary to how I was 8 or so years ago.
