Obviously I can't speak for all Americans when it comes to accepting contraversial decisions, but here's a few of my thoughts on the subject...

1) The reason I accept these decisions is because I don't have the time or influence to do a damn thing about it. Senator McCain is pushing for a boxing reform act and I hope it goes through soon but there's nothing I can do to speed up the process.
The only thing I can do is boycott the product and thats not going to happen...sorry.

2) I don't think there are as many contraversial decisions in America as people think. Usually any press is good press but in boxing its all press is bad press. You only here about the cotraversial decisions because there's no reason to report the dozens of legit ones that happen between.

3) Just because a decision is deemed contraversial doesn't mean the fight is fixed nor does it mean the judges are bias or incompetent. Just look at Mosely-DLH II, almost everyone watching on PPV had DLH winning. But everyone watching from ringside (including boxing press and experts) had Mosely winning.
The decision was contraversial but that doesn't mean there was something wrong with boxing. And it certainly doesn't mean there is something wrong with the fans that accepted the decision.
The problem is that the next day no one was writing about how it was an excellent fight in which both fighters had their moments and could have gone either way. Instead of calling it a tremendous display of prize fighting between two of todays best pound for pound fighters, they called it another black eye for boxing. We can't win.

Having said all that...
Everyone knows boxing isn't a perfect sport, in a close fight there are going to be a few rounds that can go either way and that usually makes the difference in the fight. Just like in any sport the home team is going to get those close calls, especially when the home team is DLH in Vegas. I'm not saying its right, its just the way it is (even in Germany where Ottke won at least 5 decisions that most thought he lost). If you think this only happens in America you are kidding yourself, and you know it.

I barely have time to stay on top of capping all these fights, so I refuse to lose sleep worrying about something I have no control over. Hopefully something gets done soon, but if not I will love the sport just the same.
