'Jeopardy!': James Holzhauer scores 29th victory, moving closer to money-winning record

Reigning champ James Holzhauer continued his domination of the popular game show Tuesday, claiming his 29th consecutive victory with a winning score of $59,381.
That amount is huge by traditional 'Jeopardy!' standards but below Holzhauer's jaw-dropping daily average of $77,756.
"Who needs Powerball? All you need is 28 days on 'Jeopardy!'" legendary host Alex Trebek said at the start of Tuesday's episode, referring to the current champ.
Holzhauer achieved another runaway win, securing his victory by the end of Double Jeopardy. His challengers finished with $16,801 and $10 following Final Jeopardy.
With Tuesday's haul, Holzhauer's overall winnings total $2,254,938, solidifying his No. 2 spot in prize money and putting him less than $300,000 away from Ken Jennings' all-time "Jeopardy!" total of $2,520,700. They are the only two "Jeopardy!" contestants to amass $2 million in regular, non-tournament winnings, a barrier Holzhauer crossed in Friday's episode.
Holzhauer, known for his aggressive clue selection and wagering strategy, also has the second-highest number of "Jeopardy!" victories, but substantially trails Jennings' record 74 wins.
In an interview Tuesday with ABC's "Good Morning America," Jennings said he's long thought someone might surpass his amazing "Jeopardy!" accomplishments.
"For 15 years, I have thought somebody was gonna make a run at this record, 'cause I always knew it could be done. I was there," Jennings said. "I know it's been possible."
He is surprised, however, at how quickly Holzhauer has racked up prize money, approaching Jennings' series record in fewer than half the number of episodes.
"What I did not expect, was that somebody could make a run at the cash record in, like, a third (of) the time," he said. "It's really just astounding, what he's doing."
