Pulled a gun on a guy.

Went on a turkey hunting trip in Coosa county Alabama this past week. Me and a friend got to the hunting camp about noon and got everything unpacked. We had been there about an hour and decided to go to the barn to get the golf cart so we could cruise around the property. The golf cart had a flat so we had to walk.
We went back to the cabin and got ready for the first hunt. My friend was going to his regular field and I was going to mine. He left and I was still unpacking etc. I was looking for a place to plug up my phone charger when I looked over behind a recliner for an outlet. There was a man crouching with his hands over his head. This guy did not know that I saw him and the first thing I thought was "Is this a fucking joke" "Is someone messing with me"?

I grapped my shotgun that I had just loaded and told the guy to stand up and get ready to die. The guy stood up shaking and started apologizing.
I on the other hand was scared shitless. I ordered him to step slowly toward the door with his hands up. I asked the guy his name and his business. He said he was a lost hunter. I told him that I did not really care I just wanted him to get the farthest away from me as possible or I would kill him. I ended up walking him to the gate and calling 911.
To make a long story short, the local game warden showed up after I told this guy to get the fuck off the property. He contacted an Investigator who questionied me. Investigator showed me pics of some fugitives and turns out this guy escaped 2 days before from a state prison work release.
They ended up calling out helicopters and search teams but did not find him.
We stayed and hunted for 3 days after the event but was really never comfortable after the shit went down with finding him.

I guess I was fortunate enough to know how to use a firearm to protect myself but believe me it was disturbing anyway.

Most here think that those with guns live to pull the trigger on someone, but that couldnt be further from the truth. A) Thank god you had a firearm. B) Thank God you were not forced to use it.

Damn

wish he would have moved so you could have blown his head off. All that blood and guts all over the place.

It would have been as easy as killing a bag full of
kittens.

Sorry but your not a very good citizen

Everyone I know in that situation would have walked him out and held him for the police.

He was trespassing and burglar at that point.

You dont let that guy walk.

Or should I say slink dog away

I doubt he would have even screamed much or make you have to shoot him a few times.

Sott Atlanta, We are not measuring dicks here. I am simply stating how tense the situation was and that I wanted this guy away from me before I killed him. This was not my property, I was a guest and I did not give a shit about this guys reasons for being there at the time.

I do not watch Dog the Bounty Hunter like you and wish I could apprehend bad guys and get all the credit for saving humanity.

Was letting him go a good idea? Looks like you may have put someone else's life in danger by letting him run free. At least you still got your gun.

Even though that this guy ended up being an escaped prisoner, it sounds like you did the right thing for being in that situation. Obviously, you didn't know he was someone who would/had harm others.

And it wasn't your property, so you would have had very little legal protection if the situation would have come down to your gun being fired.

Scary situation, for sure. Glad you're safe.

Just so you know, Scott was mocking you for admitting on this very site last month that, in an act of mercy:mj03: , you killed newborn kittens by throwing them against street signs from a moving vehicle.

You were lucky this time, but let's not forget that karma is a bitch....

Good story, and well told. You should write that one down for your posterity, and give more details. A very enjoyable read.

ps. don't let any more felons go, though.
