Upstairs watching sports on the big TV.
My wife and I have been crying off and on all day.....

Dewey was 15 yrs 5 months old.

He was a rescued dog (actually he rescued us, we had put our 13 yr old female yellow lab Katie down a month prior to discovering Dewey.)

The stories I could tell, our wonderful adventures, his indomitable spirit.....

Dewey, may you catch all the rabbits in dog paradise....you will be sorely missed......

Sorry to hear. I know the feeling. Time and hopefully a new rescue pup will help to heal. Best wishes.

The only things that sucks about dogs is that we usually outlive them.

Dog rule.

Dewey seemed like he had a good life, focus on that.

Went through the same thing 3 years ago with my chocolate lab, best dog I?ve ever had. I still think about her everyday. Hang in there, it?s tough.

Request From Rainbow Bridge

by Constance Jenkins

Weep not for me though I am gone
Into that gentle night.
Grieve if you will, but not for long
Upon my soul's sweet flight.
I am at peace, my soul's at rest
There is no need for tears.
For with your love I was so blessed
For all those many years.
There is no pain, I suffer not,
The fear now all is gone.
Put now these things out of your thoughts,
In your memory I live on.
Remember not my fight for breath
Remember not the strife.
Please do not dwell upon my death,
But celebrate my life.

agreed..the loss of a beloved companion (which is what dogs are) is one of the hardest things to go through. the love they offer is hard to quantify. I feel for you man. I have an 8 year old yellow lab and I dread the day I have to lose him.

I'm very sorry for your loss. I know the sadness of losing a friend that gave all it had to you and asked for nothing in return other than a few pets and a treat can be stifling man.
As many dogs as I've worked with and loved and cried over I have never really been able to prepare myself for their having too say goodbye.
I take comfort in the fact that as sad as I become every single time is only a reflection of the pure happiness and joy I was so lucky to be a part of in each and every one of their lives and that just their mere presence provided me. I will recall their joy when zooming around the yard or going to the dog park. I always remember the moment they realized they were home and loved. The happiness and affection each and every dog I've ever known has shown me has had an immeasurably positive effect on all the best things about my life, and I hope that I can be half as good a person as my dogs think I am which they seem to be able to show and express better than anything else in the world.
I had to learn to embrace my sadness at their departure and let that sadness remind me of just how happy I must have been to feel so sad today and if I do that, the burden is eased and the best memories fill me up.

Keep your head up and your heart full dead money....

Good for you. Imagine the life he wouldn't have had if you didn't take him in. You both got 15 years you otherwise would not have.

Sorry for your loss, but thanks for taking care of him.

Never easy Dale, sorry brother. I had to put my 17 year old Lhasa down before I came out to Vegas. I don't think I can own another pet again.

Again, sorry my man
