I know some of you guys know other people in the forum and probably talk to them via the phone or meet them in person.....friends....

I was thinking about a thread awhile back in a forum started by an offshore that told of the passing of a member of that forum....

Short of a sportsbook knowing you or another poster knowing you.....

What's to keep somebody here from choking on a bag of corn chips and dying.....He doesn't post anymore and nobody knows his fate and whether the guy died or just quit posting for some reason?

I always see posts like "Where is so-and-so, I haven't seen him post for awhile?"

How many posters in here, if you succumbed to that evil bag of corn chips, would have somebody that knows you well enough to know that you died and could tell the rest of us in here?

Wasn't there a member who took his own life. I believe he was from Texas.

No one I know, posts here but they do view from time to time.

I've met I think just 3 people from here, and DTB, I talk to/see often. If one of us dies, I'm sure the other would let everybody here know.

SixFive.....that's kinda what I was referring to with the question....

I doubt anyone here has a will that includes thier moniker and password, so thier wife can access the forum to tell us the "Mister so-and-so died, and he really was a nice guy..."

To which some dudes might respond with a "Nice guy? WTF you talkin' about lady?" :mj07:

only if Redsfann reads the obits :) well, i guess my kids may say something in here, and if not, if they are posting during the middle of the night, it's a sign that i'm not around....LOL

i DO however keep a list of anyplace i have online $$ (and passwords) and my online bank account info available for my dad.

how much money do you think offshores make every year from people passing away with money in an account that noone knows about or how to get to should something happen to them?

NONE! But I am sure there are many posters who would not miss me! :sadwave: I like to think of at least a couple that are glad I post! :)

None of my close friends are sports gamblers. They might bet on a few games when they watch sports with me but they are not into it. So they have no interest in the site. Not even my posts, can you believe that? :wtf:

Actually I take that back. My Dad might post something. He knows I post on here often and reads the forum. But he has never posted before and prob. never will.

I often thought about this myself. Good question Marco.

Interesting thought about having a balance in an offshore that no one knows about....

I can honestly say that no one I know has info on my own accounts....some friends know I gamble offshore but they don't have a clue as to where my outs are....I keep my family out of that circle of friends and on the few occasions where I knew them two circles were going to meet I told me friends to not even talk about any gambling....

Wouldn't be like my survivors would be missing any great sum of money......most of my action is small peanuts and I can remember a few times when if i died on Friday you'd have some money in an offshore sitting dormant.....if I lived until next Monday or Tuesday nevermind survivors because I busted out over the weekend... :mj14:

Another good question Marco. I have a list of all the account ID's and passwords in my room in a safe place. So eventually someone would find it and take the $$$$. I also have the neteller info.

Marco, your post brought a thought to mind. At a hunting forum I frequent, a poster actually did die. He had not met anybody, and had only been posting about 9 months. He had just started hunting and killed his first deer, and he was really getting into it, asking questions, and learning.

All of a sudden, there was a post under his nic saying it was his wife posting and that her husband had died unexpectedly from an aneurysm (he was only 42) She posted that she knew the site was important and that he had really enjoyed it.

The guys took up a donation and sent the wife some money and a small plaque in honor of him.

SixFive....that was a rather stand-up gesture for the wife of the deceased hunter...

I suppose there are some posters here whose spouse knows about the posters involvement and at least would shoot one of the mods an email telling of the passing....

One of my best friends is a member here even though he never posts. If something happened to me, he would probably at least come on and get Kosar or Saul's email to let them know since we've all hung out before.

I've actually thought about this several times before when a poster seemingly disappears.

Used to go to the track regularly with Winphoto1 and NDNFAN. Still play cards with them occasionally so I assume one of them would fill you in on my demise......

...thanks, you fawking lurker. :scared

...where in the hell ya been, you crazy bastid? :mj14:

...to answer the question....

...there is a massive amount of people on this forum that might notice a prolonged period of "inactivitity" and think :mj11: ...then there are multiple folks that might miss an e-mail or 2 and think... :wtf: ...then there are about a dozen that might miss a phone call or 2 and think... :drinky: ...but there are only about 3 guys that would tell all of you that my dumbass actually gave up the ghost because I failed to properly chew a corn chip. :cursin: :mj14: :mj06:

p.s. My offshore account numbers, bank accounts and passwords are all in my Last Will and Testament. I left them to a friend.... He's a gambler, so it's pot-luck as to whether anything is there or not. ;)

"but there are only about 3 guys I know that would tell all of you that my dumbass actually gave up the ghost because i failed to properly chew a corn chip..."

Not only is there a choking hazard, but I've heard stories of tortilla chips cutting the esophagus....??? Really. Anyone else hear of that happening?

People all over the world are now stomping on that bag of chips and pouring the contents of the bag out on the table for further punishment from the rolling pin....Grape Nuts gets a free pass....
