question for ohio guys

JSmooth - Just curious if you just continually talk trash about the Bucks or actually make predictions regarding the conference. I'd be eager to see what your thoughts and/or picks would be for the upcoming season. Why don't you throw out your choices if you can be objective enough...

First off, Yes, I will continually talk trash about the Buckeyes all season. Second, I posted my Big Ten predictions back in March but I'll do it again just for you.

1. Michigan
2. MSU
3. Iowa
4. Illinois
5. Ohio State
6. PSU
7. Purdue
8. Wisconsin
9. Minnesota
10. Indiana
11. Northwestern

Michigan has a bland offense but a stellar defense. Shades of 97? Probably not but enough talent to sweep through the league. The opener vs Washington will set the tone for the season.

Jeff Smoker is IMO, the best QB in the league. MSU has the firepower but needs to stay healthy.

I feel that Iowa could be a sleeper this season. Brad Banks got some good PT last year and should build on that. They have a pretty easy non conference schedule that should build their confidence heading into league games.

Last year didn't just hinge on Kurt Kittner for Illinois. They have very talented receivers and return a total of 14 starters.

There's big talk in Columbus of winning the BigTen this year. It'll get won in Columbus alright.....it'll get won by Michigan. Much of the hype surrounding OSU is based on 2 things. (1) The season ending gift at Michigan and (2) Their recruiting class. Bottom line is they've got 4 highly touted running backs and 3 of them have never stepped on a collegiate field, they've got a QB who's attempted about 10 passes in game situations, they've lost 3 starters on the o-line and have no depth at that position and they return possibly the leagues worst kicker.

JSmooth - Sorry I missed the post in March and I appreciate the recap. Agree with you on MSU and Illinois as teams overall seem to be balanced more so than in the conference than in the past. Must've been tough putting the 'Bucks at 5th and although I agree with you on kickers you didn't want to mention the defense... It's okay, I guess some things are best left unsaid.

Not a fan of of either OSU or Michigan, but respect the rivalry. At this time last year, JSmooth wouldn't of said anything about the Bucks. He wouldn't have to. By his responses, you know that it is a rivalry again.

As for Illinois, it DID depend on Kittner. You've got an Illinois coach that doesn't bring his team to play in the first quarter. They relied on an offense to bring them back last year and don't have that luxury.

You can put OSU , Michigan, and Penn State in a hat, they're that even. but no one else in the Big 10 is close

Not so BBC, check the archives....I posted on OSU last season. My responses aren't so much for the rivalry (although I love it) but for living here in NE Ohio, Jim Tressel's stomping grounds, and listening to the same old crap, day after day after day. The OSU fans think that Tressel is a godsend around here and probably throughout the state. Every time OSU slips one in, (and thats exactly what they did) the talk turns to "things are gonna change." I heard it in 94 and again in 98 when Cooper was there. It just so happens that they got a new coach this time.

My opinion on OSU's defense?? Well, they return 8 starters. Good, right? 8 starters from a team that was outscored 67-41 in the 4th quarter last season. That same defense that blew huge leads against Penn State, Wiscy and Michigan and lost 2 of those games. Tressel's coaching style will wear that defense out, meaning when and if he builds a lead, his conservative style of run, run, run, punt will force his defense to be on the field alot!
Isn't this fun!!!!
I hope OSU is undefeated on Nov. 23rd. It's been a coupla years since we got to ruin another perfect season.

Ohio St can lick my nuts! I hate that school!! they can take that big ol campus and shove it right up they azz. I hate the students even more...they are retarted fools! Ohh and fawk the guy who kicked me off the game field. I wasnt even doing anything..I was just stadning there...and the guy runs up to me....HEY thats a 2 million dollar turf thing..I dont know some bullshit, anywas he kicked me off the field and then out the stadium for bitching. On top of that I got beat up down at OSU campus...I never gotten beatin up before. Fawk them all!!!!!
