well. that was too bad. that was the end of a week which saw my BR decrease by about 10%.
I don't feel like it was a terrrible bet. Holyfield looked a lot more spry than i thought he would, and Rahman looked very tired at times. If the fight went longer, I think Rahman's chances of a KO increased, but he wasn't going to win a decision with those kinds of judges margins.
Foreman was very critical of Rahman's corner. Before the fight he said he didn't think he had a good trainer. During the fight he criticized Rahman not jumping on Holyfield after Holyfield flurries. He even criticized the doctor after the fight for using the endswell instead of the ice pack. I wondered if he had something against Bouie.
One thing to take from this is to look out for the pro with a lack of amateur experience against the cagey vet. That might include Jameel McCline or Goofi Whitaker.
FWIW, I had Holyfield up 5 round to 2 through 7 rounds.
I liked a Lampley quote before the fight where he said Rahman was coming off a loss and was now going up against "the cagiest old rat in the barn."
I still think Holyfield doesn't defend against the straight right that well.
One last comment, doesn't Holyfield's face just look like it was designed out of leather to catch punches? It's just a large flat surface. That probably contributes to that great chin of his.
We gotta hum dinger next weekend (which I'm not going to be able to watch). Right now I'm laying off it, but let's get some talk going on it for the week.
