Couldn't he have been put on the exempt list? And the ravens could've at least retained his rights?

At this point in his career, I think, Ray Rice's payscale would be too high to account on the exempt list.
AP, however, just carries too much talent to outright release at this time.
Dwyer, a marginal NFL talent, seems to be in more of a purgatory hold right now. Would not be surprised if he ends up released knce this all shakes out.:shrug:
