just layed some riverbed stone(the round,smooth white rocks roughly the size of your fist) under the run off and ran it around an alberta spruce i left on the corner of the bed and into the a small portion of the bed to provide some stark contrast to the black mulch i`m putting down....
looked pretty good...those block paving edgers really define the lines sharply and are pretty sturdy if you stake them with 10x 3/8 galvanized nails....
if you don`t mind digging,they work very nicely...
gonna eventually use them to make nice round tree borders.....
if anybody`s looking for a nice dwarf lanscaping plant that isn`t showy,but very clean looking and doesn`t grow more than a foot or two and keeps it`s round globular shape,check out the "mugo pine".......
don`t need a ton of water...practically no upkeep....
