The wife and I are out here in Reno. Staying at Harrahs. Any suggestions on things to see and do. The beer is good and cold but so is the weather.

Take a drive around Lake Tahoe

agreed, there is not much to see around Reno; it's just high desert, the terrain is nothing to write home about. Lake Tahoe is a beauitful high sierra lake with many nice vistas; women love it :0008

Been to Reno three times and this was around fifteen years ago. Looking at the top post i see there is still nothing to do there. Peppermill Casino was nice in Reno but you can only stay in ur hotel so long. Lake Tahoe is fun for about an hour. Watching it snow about thirty foot a day was interesting. Other than that i had a great time  Usually when i go on vacation i need another vacation because of the first vacation. In Reno u get lots of rest.

Somewhere in Corn Country
The Wolf Den sports a fine version of the Awful Awful burger.

Lotta hard core sports bettors hang and bet at the Cal-Neva

Love the Cal-Neva's sportsbook in Reno. Big horse betting area and plenty of TV's to watch the games on.
A little tight with the drink tickets while in the sportsbook, but after getting in a bet on a game, you can go downstairs for some 3 dollar blackjack and get drinks brought to you as fast as you can drimk them by tipping your waitress 5 bucks....:toast:
Pissed me off that the Heiniken and a hot dog price went up from the last time I was there. You don't want to eat the hot dog just hand it to one of many homeless hanging around...:142smilie

Go to Truckee, the Donner Lake Museum, then head over to Tahoe on 89.

'Donner' as in 'let's fix the wagon in the morning I'm sure we won't get snowed in for months up here in the mountains' Donner?

One in the same Glenn,

there are 20 foot tree stumps there, you can see the what they had to endure. I used to live in Truckee, 25 years ago.

All joking aside, museums like that are right up my alley. I'm a sucka for that shit.

Just curious, how long did you live in Truckee? And did you live there by choice? :0corn

2 years, yes

The only reason I asked is because when I lived in CA I knew a guy from Truckee and he said he couldn't stand it. Then again, I think we were teenagers at the time so he may have just been a disgruntled little punk. :SIB

Not much has changed with me, I still have the mohawk, but it's when I wake up and I look like a drunk chia pet

It can be a cold SOB in Truckee for sure, lot's of snow, lots of tourists, which we called mallards.

I cooked at my cousins restaurant and worked at Alpine Meadows Ski Resort

I think his gripe was that there wasn't much to do as far as partying, night life kind of stuff. I think a lot of kids just resent growing up in small towns -- I know I did.

Well the getting thrown out is the best part, isn't it? If you're not getting thrown out, you're not doing it right. :0008
