Going to start a thread and looking for advice on winning auction based Roto Leagues and opinions on sleeper players for the upcoming year. 5x5 NL league is what I am in. I love auction day! Brutal bidding wars all day long.

Becket and Cruz will both win alot of games with a fairly low era and whip, while racking up quite a few k's.

I agree on all three but I think the cat is out of the bag on Dunn and Beckett. Cruz had around 8-9 starts and has awesome stuff.
Actually had Dunn on my team last year as we have a system of a one bid auction for FA. Certainly helped out but can't keep him as $26 is kinda high for a rookie, albeit a excellent one. Personally I think that SS the Dodgers got from Toronto will win the job from Cora eventually and will hit .250-.260 but with some steals. Travis Lee is that magical 26 year old age and has had many at-bats and could be poised to take it to another level. Just an opinion. Those are the kinda guys i'm looking at. Not the obvious ones. The vultures in my league will probably bid Beckett to $20. One day close to D-Day Auction!
This is just my humble opinion on the fantasy subject today. As an avid Phillies fan I do not think Travis Lee will have a breakout season this year or any other year he is the league. He is just not as good as everyone expected when he signed for that monster bonus as a rookie with Arizona, and I think that money took away all his desire and drive. He does not play with any passion or emotion. Plus with Michael Jack Schmidt in camp I have not heard a word about Lee picking the brain of one of the greatest players of all time, even Rolen is trying to pick up a few pointers from him. If you want a break out year on the Phills look for Pat Burrell to have a monster season. Pat the Bat & Abreu will be the most potent pair of corner outfielders in the league. Also look for Lieberthall to bounce back to form. If you don't draft him trade for him by the end of May because this is the time he really picks it up.

I got Dunn in the 6th round, Beckett in the 8th round, and cruz in the 10th round, I guess they were just steals for me as not everyone are as avid baseball people as the sportsbettors of the world.
I could create a Yahoo league for madjackers, IMO that is the best place to do live drafts.

Beckett won't even be available in my league since we have 5 keepers from the pior year. Lucky that I have Armas Jr and Wood failry cheap. Ankiel I wouldn't go over $5. Difference between dominating low minors and high pressure majors. Any sign of trouble in spring stay away, FAR AWAY.
As for sleepers, I understand the kid Kearns is very good in Cincy. Plus I would get that Ishii on LA. Averages a strikeout a inning and is in Pitching heaven that is Chavez Ravine. Lastly, if Durazo on DBacks will start he should put up some BIG numbers if given 500 at bats. (Which he should)

Yeah, Burroughs should be a good one.. A couple days ago they had the Padres on espn's team per day preview thing.. Klesko and Nevin didnt seem too thrilled about moving for him, but they realize its "for the best"..

No doubt Myers is a talent but he is a young pitcher and more often than not they struggle. If you can sneak him in cheap in a keeper auction league fine if not why bother.
As for Galarraga I don't know how they plan on using them yet as I have slipped in following preseason with all this march madness but Expos should platoon him and Stevens. Does anyone know if it is going to be Fassero replacing Gordon or if Farnsworth will get a piece of the pie?
