I know many folks here had some questions about Royal and etc, etc.... For me I have used Royal in the past and never once had a problem. But I would lay low for a while IMHO. Jack or IE just delete this post if this is out of line or whatever.
Updates on Royal Sports

Official announcement from Royal confirming the ouster of long time operator/shareholder Scotty Monroe. It was "earn-outs" in Mr. Monroe's negotiated sale with Olympic that infuriated the Dutch owners of Royal and contributed heavily to the deal falling through.

Unconfirmed reports that the infighting within the Royal ownership group will end in a matter of two day with the ouster off all managing principals giving full control to the Dutch principals. If true, this move would remove the last of a once very good management team but will also provide the needed foundation for the remaining principal group to provide funding.
There is still a chance a last minute sale could happen. SBR views the continued flight of management and ownership infighting as a negative which will likely be resolved but until then players should use extreme caution.

From SBR sources:
The deal with Olympic Sports was terminated because of in-fighting among the Royal shareholder group.
The Royal ownership group is made up of both American and Dutch. The Dutch principals, which, have the greatest amount of resources, felt they were being slighted to the benefit of the American principals and nixed the deal.
Royal, as it stands now, is said to be stable. Furthermore, Royal has cut a great deal of overhead and its currently operating at break-even to slightly above.
Royal will need the principals to provide for loan repayments, marketing and other non-bookmaking expenses.
It's clear that the Royal principal group has a great deal of resources. It's unclear if the present group of principals is able to work together and agree on the level of funding that is necessary to both stabilize and grow the business. It's also unclear what management owners will stay and what new talent, if any, will be brought in.
Conflicting information that Royal was given money by Olympic as a bridge loan in anticipation of the sale closing.
SBR has raised the SBR Financial Rating on Olympic to "A" as a result of the termination of the planned acquisition of Royal Sports
