Q. Lee, you seemed to be quite outspoken about the fans; can I ask you sort of where it went over the line?
SERGIO GARCIA: Tell him the ghost story. Tell him the ghost story.
LEE WESTWOOD: Did I tell you about the ghost? Should I tell you where it started at 12:30 last night when I got a phone call to my room to wish me good luck. Should we start there?
JUSTIN ROSE: What, about 4:30 in your mom and dad's room?
LEE WESTWOOD: Yeah, because they got the wrong hotel and rang the wrong Westwood room. I found that quite amusing. It upset my dad's preparation for walking around the course today.
Of course it's true, and then there was the ghost that jumped out at me between 5 and 6 and went, "Booooooo" right like that to my face and he was the one that got ejected, but he was the one that made me laugh. All of the abuse that I got was fairly nasty, and that was pretty shameful. That was only a minority, and the crowds were great. I expected them to get behind the American Team, which they did, but some people don't know the difference between supporting their team and abusing the opposition team, which is unfortunate.

Q. What did they say?
LEE WESTWOOD: Lee I'm not prepared to repeat it. One was a particularly nasty reference to my mother on the 12th tee.

One of major disappointments to me in Ryder Cup's is the end zone theatrics from players (both sides guilty) I think fans feed off this frenzy--and it enhances their antics.

Is one thing to cheer for your team--quite another to be disrespectful of opponent.

Completely agree Wayne. And the first thing you do when you win a match (or lose) is shake your opponents hand. Not your team captain, your wife, half a dozen teammates, and a few other assorted slappers, and then your opponent.

Lee did seem like a little baby this week. Even Sergio was respectful. Lee played poorly and frankly got beat down by a couple Ryder Cup rookies. It will be no different in Wales as far as the fans go, just put in earplugs next time. I dont think Faldo cost them the cup. Sergio, Lee, and Padraig (whose game is way off) not winning a single match did.

I have to disagree Derrick--European fans are generally of classic type which were similiar here for years until past 10 years or so. We now have new breed of fans like the rowdy arizona bunch.

I believe the classic fans you get at Masters and most all Euro galleries are quite similiar. Very knowledgeble about golf and cordial.

We now have many here who go simply to party and have disposition similiar to rugby fans.

You can watch any Euro event and rarily will you have the boisterous "you da man" exhibitionist/attention seekers at every tee box.
