I have a feeling that this could be a busy thread this week :D

Have made a number of bets so far - Europe at 11/5 being the main one - things really are a lot closer than the books seem to quote.
Also after Europe to lead after Day 1.
+ I have been laying Tiger at 5/2 to be top US scorer - his record ain't that good in these events.

Let the bun fight begin :argue:

I agree that Europe look overpriced but have gone for a more conservative play. Europe +2,5 points, 1.66 at Betinternet. The Americans haven't won by 2 points or more since 1981. I think the Europeans will really be fired up for this one and they have home advantage as well.

Woods is definitely vulnerable in match play events. Saw it in the Solheim Cup as well. Sorenstam wasn't nearly as dominant as she is in regular events.

Think I'm going pass on cup and look to Texas this week.
Can't believe Sportingbet had lines out in early am today.
They opened with a couple texans as favs Leonard 6/1 and
Estes 16/1 which I deem fair especially on Estes if jet lag don't come into play. Hate to dig into to their records on event right after return from UK but if any of you mates got it handy I would be greatful to know.;)

DTB, I'll look at it tomorrow myself as they do look the class players in this event, but can search the database on my site. Just enter 'Leonard' or 'Estes' and leave everything else blank and you will get a full list of tournaments since 1996 for both players. You can then look to see how they perform the week after playing in Europe.

EUROPE 7/4 @ VC 1 Unit.
I think this goes to the wire. The Ryder Cup deserves to come home this week. The force is with us ;). Just show me who Duval is playing Sunday and there's no way I'll be making a loss this week. Trust Leonard to not qualify on purpose and save himself the abuse. Why are there players wives running all over Olazabals putt...................????

To get back to the thread guys, but bluesq have some interesting matchups on tournament points, have to go for

Verplank to beat Westwood 6/5 - Captains pick Verplank is sure to get some games and had a creditable 14 under at the Amex, Westwood couldn't beat his way out of a paper bag at the moment.

Fulke to beat Sutton 6/4 - Fulke could be the dark horse of the euro team, and Sutton has been dire all year - with only one sub 70 round in Fla, and a long trip to boot.

Azinger to beat McGinley 11/10 - Zinger will be looking forward to the week, while McGinley....well hmmm.

stepping in in anticipation of first day pairings...gone for following 2 x 2 ew doubles for Top US/European scorers..
Toms 9/1
Mickelson 5/1
x
Langer 9/1
Garcia 7/2
Place for Garcia and Mick gets half 8 unit stake back. I think these will end up playing together. I like both pairings, they are a good blend, one can blast it all day, while the other can play their normal game, and well, not blast it...

Ryder Cup Idea

Ryder Cup Idea

Saw this on The Golf Channel this a.m. and on another thread...

BET THE TIES...

Of the last 5 Ryder Cup events, many four-ball matches ended in a TIE...

1. Woods/Zinger vs. Clark/Bjorn +600 for Tie

2. Duvall/Love vs. Garcia/Westwood +600

3. Hoch/Furyk vs. Monty/Langer +600

4. Mickelson/Toms vs. Harrinton/Fasth +600 [at Olympic]

++++++++
If you bet 1 Unit on each match you are risking 4.0 units.

If only 1 match ties, you are up 2 units...

+++++++++
I think the two matches most like to NOT tie are Match 1 and 3.

In this case, I may bet 2 units on matches 2 and 4, and 1 unit on matches 1 and 3. Risking 6 units. If either match 2 or 4 Ties, and the rest do not, I am up +1200 - 400 or +800 units.

Not a bad risk, considering the pay-off, IMO....

Other thoughts appreciated...

BTW, had a GREAT time in Scotland in late August. 10 striaght days of golf, with 36 holes on 4 of those days. Amazingly good weather, too. And yes, I did taste 1 or 2 malts, or so.... :D

This is what I have . . .

The Tie (9/1) for 1*
I wish I had waited for some of the 11/1 I saw last weekend, but I was afraid it would go the other way. With nothing less than a dramatic
finish to be expected, it seemed to offer the most value.

Europe(+1.5)(+102) Handicap for 0.50*
A live dog at home seems like another solid play.

Scott Hoch(20/1) as Top American Scorer for 0.50*
He was on my short list at that price, and I could hardly believe it when the always sharp folks at Olympic didn't quickly adjust his price after the Friday fourball pairings were released (he is now down to 14/1) , so I jumped on it as another value play. I also think there is a chance he will get a pairing with Mr. Woods, which would be a good chance for more points, albeit with the odds on favorite.

Bernhard Langer(10/1) as Top European Scorer for 0.50*
Also on my short list, and once again the folks at Olympic did not quickly adjust after the initial pairings were released (now at 9/1). I also considered it a bit of a hedge that Hoch and Langer would be opposing each other, as at least one of them will be on the board straight off.

The Tie(6/1) on All four Friday fourballs for 0.50* each
Taking a shot at a quick strike.

Bottom Line: I'm a Yankee Doodle Dandy. Let's Keep the Cup!

Early plays...

Early plays...

1. Hoch/Furyk +125 over Monty/Langer

Simply going on my impression that Monty has been off his game for some time now...

2. Parlay...

Hoch/Furyk
Duvall Match is a tie [14/1]

More later, maybe...

Ian Are we a little biased:p

I like your B/C @ 7/4

Don't know much bout these matches but would think any team with Mick on it it be awasome in best ball but very beatable in alternate shot.
