I know 95% of madjackers don't know who Pat Burns is. But in "Leaf Nation" it is a sad day. This guy was one of the best coaches in sports history. He was incredible, just incredible.

RIP Pat:(

Yep he was one of my favorite coaches loved his style. He was an ex policeman and he brought that toughness on the bench every night.
He sure will be missed one of the best coaches out there, he also coached the hated Canadiens

RIP Pat :sadwave:

Gotta love Wendel Clark stepping up to McSorley, outmatched from the start in size but got a few licks in. McSorley was one dirty bastard that's for sure.

Big loss for the hockey world. :sadwave:

Great Coach....one tough mother F'er....my favorite B's coach just too bad they didn't have too much talent then....Funny a few months ago when they reported that he had died and he called up some reporter i think in toronto and said can't a guy go on vacation without being dead...he was funny to the end. sorry for the loss Kickserve as i know how important hockey is up there!!

I never heard of the guy but just read the article. Very sad and way too young to leave us. Sounds like he was a great guy.

RIP

Yep.......the guy was a class act. There isn't a player who played for him that had a bad word to say about him.

As spartan said, there ain't coaches like that any more. He took no shit and could care less about what the press or management said. You did what he said or ya didn't play. He was all about the team. He'd bench star players without hesitation.

Every Leaf fan loved this guy, just loved him. There will be many fans crying on Monday when the Leafs have a ceremony in his honour.

Pat Burns was as real as it gets.

Thought he got a bum deal in Boston.

Class act. Beat cancer twice, a police officer, and literally came back from the dead (so to speak...)

Hockey lost a great one here.

RIP.
