Boxing - 2008 2-2 + $1,408.00

This should be a good fight with two good bangers in there going for a KO.

I like the KO in the later rounds but have not decided on a side yet.

Going to take the over 7.5 before any line changes. That Iggy fight sure went fast. It was round 8 in the blink of a eye. Hope this trend continues.

CANCUN, Mexico - The first world heavyweight championship ever staged in Mexico will take place in Cancun?s Plaza de Torros on Saturday, March 8 when World Boxing Council heavyweight champion Oleg Maskaev makes the second defense of his title against WBC interim heavyweight champion Samuel ?The ******** Nightmare? Peter to determine the sole WBC heavyweight champion.

The two had been scheduled to meet in New York?s Madison Square Garden on Oct. 6, but a back injury forced Maskaev to pull out of the fight on Sept. 21.
.................................................................

Another fight on HBO. They are beginning to really be the place to watch the heavyweights.

I will have to complain to Jack as they have blocked off the Nigerien Nightmare because of beantownjim :142smilie.

If the guy calls himself the ******** Nightmare it should be ok.

thanks

that should really help me make a decison on the side play.

BOXLOCKS says he is all over Oleg.

I hate to tell him but Oleg has two herniated disks and a bulging sciatica.

Sometimes BOXLOCKS does not do his homework.

Kesch said MRIs revealed that Maskaev has several herniated and ruptured discs in his back and he would need four to six weeks to heal:scared

Do you have a source!?

BTW, this play might not look good at first view, but I think you have a shot.

I already have 3 minor bets on the over, Maskaev straight and Maskaev by decision.

Hilarious when you lose it always seems to be Box's fault. Is this fight tomorrow? I can't tell with no date on it once again. Now let me go find out when this fight is to see if Box's still has time to do his homework.

The back injury was what postponed the fight last year. Scheduled for Oct 6

I cannot verify how the back injury happened. I just know that you do not recover very easily from disk problems. It normally takes surgery.

Still looking for more about it.

Maybe BOX will have some info, but he may be too busy middlin.:SIB

WBC interim heavyweight champion Samuel Peter?s (29-1, 22 KOs) last three bouts against Jameel McCline, and James Toney, were not that impressive.

What seems to make Peter so dangerous is his tendency to throw a large amount of rabbit punches. That alone makes him a much more effective puncher than he would be other wise.

Whether Peter goes out and specifically aims for the back of his opponents? head, that?s not something that anyone can say for sure, but it appears to look that way. Peter has built up his fearsome knockout reputation from his easy KO wins over mostly all C-level fighters, the kind of opponents that any good heavyweight would knockout as well. Though Peter has stopped them impressively, he hasn?t been able to do that against the best opponents that Pete has faced in his career. Indeed, if you throw out all the bums that Peter has faced in his short career, all that is left is Wladimir Klitschko, James Toney, Jameel McCline and Charles Shufford. In each case, Peter was unable to knock any of them out.

He did come close to stopping Wladimir, but that was from illegal rabbit punches, not actual legal shots to the head, so I don?t count that fight. Even worse, Peter lost to Wladimir, almost lost to McCline, and should have lost the first fight with Toney, if the judges? had scored the fight correctly. Even Shufford gave Peter major problems the entire fight, and the scores weren?t indicative of the actual fight that took place.

Maskaev says that he is now 100% from the back damage he suffered from two herniated discs and a bulging disc. While we wouldn?t expect Maskaev to come in saying he wasn?t 100%, it won?t take long for everyone to see just how healthy he is.
..............................................................

another article had this to say about his back.

Maybe he is just going to try to survive and collect a big paycheck.

BOX may be wagering on a injured lamb going to
the slaughter.

I'm new here guys. My name is Shane, and I'm a boxing nut. I've been betting regularly for about 3 years now. I'm 24 years old. Just a little info.

I'm taking Peter in the Over. Maskaev is terrible. I usually don't bet on the HW's because it is the one division that I truly hate to watch.

Welcome PBF

Wern't you the one that robbed all them banks up Chicago way before they shot you in a hail of machine guns ? just wondering.

We have a tight knit group here in the Off the Wall forum. Alot of money is won and a good time had by all. I would warn you about this guy named of Sponge.

Glad to see you on the over and not on a fighter with a huge bulging disk problem.

Thanks for the welcome. I've been viewing this section (off the wall) for a little over a month now. Most of you guys seem very well educated on the sport and usually agree with me, so I decided to sign up. I'll keep my eyes open for Sponge. Thanks for the tip.

Wow, two incorrect statements in the same post, nice work Scott

1) I have a small value play on Maskaev +370 based on Peters last performance against McCline where he was exposed and down 3 times early in the fight. McCline is a very big guy, but he's not a big puncher, Maskaev has the power to finish what McCline started.

2) I always do my homework, and it didn't take much to figure out why the first fight was postponed.
