kick.....serious question

stars align, for whatever reason it happens even though it never would because the top players don't care about it at all...but for this scenario it does.

Joker and Rafa (both healthy) decide to play doubles at a major....Let's say the US open. Maybe they play 1 or 2 exhibitions before, but don't practice ever. Are they the clear cut favorites. Would it be a shock if they didn't win. Or would they lose pretty early because they just don't know the game that well, don't have chemistry, etc...???

had me thinking. I think pure talent alone takes them far, but not all the way because it's just such a different game and they just don't understand it because they have much bigger fish to fry. Curious, that's all.

fwiw, I've bet maybe four or five doubles matches in my life, and can't say I've ever watched a whole one. Just not that into it.

1st off........the last time Novak and Rafa played doubles together was at Canadian Open Masters Event.

They lost 1st round to Canadians Milos Raonic, and Vasek Pospisil.

If Novak and Rafa played the upcoming US Open together I'd set odds on them winning at about 11-1

That should answer your question.

The last guy to win a singles major and doubles major at the same event was Yevgeny Kafelnikov at 1996 French Open (his partner was Daniel Vacek). What he did was fucking incredible:scared

Dustin Brown is a funny dude....he's entertaining to watch. He has some big wins on his record. He was one game away (served for match) from beating Ferrer last year. I'd hardly say he sucks:142smilie

thnx for the answer

11-1 sounds about right...never knew they played together. way too much chemistry needs to be accumulated. i actually thought they didn't like each other behind the scenes...

and I can only say I've seen Brown once (tonight) and he was fucking horribad. I mean horrendous. Anything from the baseline was sprayed ten feet out and any volley was dropped into the net. so that's what I have to base it on. Can't say I'll be folllowing doubles, but he was fcking brutal tonight. I mean laughable bad. Like, I'm still laughing at how awful he was tonight.

still laughing:mj07:

Many are annoyed by Nadal, he's ok and all, but he annoys many players with some of the shit he pulls.

Then again Novak has pulled a lot of shit in his career as well.

As for Brown.....can't play well all the time....sometimes nothing goes right and you just suck. Sucks when your partner plays like shit though. If you play like shit in singles that is one thing, but when ya suck in doubles ya let your partner down. Totally different story.
