Would that be the OU that was offered a game with USC and turned it down? Should we reward that too?

I know what you are saying, my point simply is that you logivlaly are right about SOS, but in reality it is irrelevant as to Auburn being number 3 right now. Do you honestly think if the first poll didnt come out until October 10 that it would be USC-OU-AUBURN?

Sun Tzu, I am not saying the plus one game is the answer. I would just like to see it play out on the field. Regardless of non conference schedule and strength of schedule their are 5 teams that are undefeated. Three of those teams are from legit "major" conferences, no matter how up or down the conferences are for a particular year. I think it is just an unfortunate situation and just wish we could have something definitive.

The system sucks, but if they're hellbent on sticking with it, the preseason polls need to be eliminated. If preseason #1 and #2 run the tables, which happened, any other team is shit out of luck. Shitty system, Auburn, toughest schedule? Yes. Best team, we'll never know for sure. An strong argument can be made for all three. All three did what they had to do, just a bad deal for the SEC champs. Anyone that defends the BCS needs to defend one thing. How is a mediocre 8-3 team end up playing in a BCS bowl when 1 loss Texas gets a lesser bowl bid while their one loss was to a team playing in a national championship game. Ridiculous. The same people that came up with the BCS must be descendents of the founders of the electoral college. Why does everything have to be so complicated?

I think it may well be Texas in teh BCS game and 1 loss Cal who lost to a team playing in title game lookingin form outside. Absurd either way.

Manson and others...1st let me say that this TN team with a 3rd string QB is still MUCH MUCH better than Col. or UCLA. CASE CLOSED. We gave up 240yds on the ground, yes 150 of that on 2 busted plays that went for 80 and 55. Did TN even pass for 70 yrds? We gave them4 turnovers and didnt force one and still won going away easily. After this performance my thoughts are not waivered about how strong they are this year. Did you watch every game our D dominated this season(11 of them to be exact)??? To this game...did the TN TD at in the 2nd Q touch the ground, TIVO that. Two turnovers inside our own 20 gave them 14 easy points. Every time TN scored, auburn does what every good team march down the field and score again. Did USC beat 4 9 win teams? The only reason auburn will not get a shot is because of where they were in the preseason polls, so therefore USC and OK had an unfair advantage. Our OOC schedule was weak to say the least, but if there was only 1 other team in the SEC that was worth a shit, like the pac 10, then they would have to schedule tougher OOC games. If auburn had played ga tech, byu, and so miss would that mean that they would ranked higher...HELL NO

Huge difference between AU and USC/OU. They look for anything and everything to say that we don't belong, and they look for anything and everything to say that USC/OU does belong.

AU finished the year playing a top 10 team(which happens to be a rival), beating a good defensive team in nasty playing conditions(Iron Bowl), and beating a top 15 team for the second time in a row to win the hardest conference championship game in the land.

OU beat a pathetic nebraska team, a horrible baylor team (uab scored 56 on them) and a terrible Colorado team.

USC finished with a horrible Arizona team, a horrible ND team with a 114th ranked pass defense(out of 117 teams) and a pathetic UCLA team.

AU had by far the toughest finish with 2 games against top 15 teams and the third the iron bowl against a top 5 defense.

i was coming back to this, but war eagle summed it up. those "free 14" were huge when determining the score. it kept the game close and allowed ut to keep running the ball. except for the break away runs that were impressive - how many times could have tn sustained long drives ? probably, not too many. jmo

there is no rb on ucla's or col's teams that are as good as riggs/houston from tn.

AU beat a 9 win UT team by 10 points today, and could've made it 17 had we run 1 more running play inside the 5 at the end of the game. We spotted UT 14 points and still won by 10. USC faced a unranked opponent, and won by 5 (with some quetsionable fumble calls I might add), and the second best team in the Pac-10 was up by 2 points against Southern Friggin Miss with under 5 mintues to go. May I remind the viewers at home that Alabama beat Southern Miss so bad, their mommas' felt it.

Oklahoma, while looking impressive, beat an UNRANKED colorado team like a redheaded stepchild. Color me unimpressed.

Somehow, after watching all these games, the talking heads AGAIN denegrated AU's impressive accomplishments against BETTER COMPETITION.

I saw a USC team have to recover an onsides kick to win the game. I saw them have to get an INT towin the game. I saw them win by 5 points to an unranked UCLA team. I remember 2 weeks ago when AU's 8 POINT WIN agaisnt an arch rival was denegrated, but tonight, no such courtesy was extended to USC. They won, it was a rivlary game., and they were hailed. WHen we did the same, we were denegrated.

AU has played 4 games against teams with 9 wins, won al 4, 2 away from home. That is more than USC and OU have done COMBINED. We've won by an average of 13.3 points against those opponents, more than OU has against their RANKED opponents.

I've seen the dicks on ESPN denegrate AU's Defensive performance tonight, in a game we won by 10 POINTS (could've been 17 had we used our timeouts and punched the ball in when we were inside the 5 with 25 seconds to go), when they said nothing of the sort when OU won by less than that in TWO CONSECUTIVE GAMES against average Big-12 opponents.

I'm sick of hearing abuot OOC records, because its' a red herring. Our In-conference schedule was better than USC's or OU's, and we won more impressively more often than either of those two teams.

The SEC has 5 teams in the top 25. The Big-12 has 4 The Pac-10 has 3.

I'm livid that AU can beat the #15 team on national TV, spotting 2 turnovers + bad punt snap (14 points), and not punch in the last TD (17 point win) when we clearly could've, and watch them praise USC's 5 FRIGGIN POINT WIN agaisnt UNRANKED and HORRID UCLA as well as OU's absolute demolishment of another unranked "Big 12 North champion" Colorado, and at the same time denigrate this teams accomplishments. The Big East, the MAC, the WAC, and the Sun Friggin Belt play better footbal than the Big 12 North. Hell, Hoover High would place no worse than 3rd in the big 12 north.

The computers can suck it too. They've got a great track record of being wrong. Sagarin has some horrible teams in the top 40, he has a 10 win 1AA school at 193, behind several 1AA schools with 1-2 wins, and he's been historically wrong at the END OF THE SEASON. For cryin out loud, in 2002, he picked a 2 LOSS USC team as his NC, above an UNDEFEATED Ohio State. He has a 6-5 Oregon State Team above Co-Big-10 Champs Michigan and Iowa. Michigan would kill OSU any place, any time.

So, fsck the BCS. I hope Texas gets #4 above Cal, cause it serves this entire system right.

Just back from the game. This team is very special the kind in fact we may not see in Auburn again for a while. I wish I could say that Auburn has the same chances yr in and yr out but in the SEC that cant happen. Whether or not they play in Miami it doesnt matter because I know I have seen the best in the land and it doesnt take a crystal ball to prove that to me.

Also for anyone that doubts the SEC as a whole just look back at yrs past SEC records as a conference in bowl games. I doubt the SEC will lose more than 2 games this bowl season.

BIG ORANGE LAND!!
free 14 pts?
I dont think Auburn fumbled to do us a favor?? I think they were caused by the defense. Auburn is better than tn , I will not kid myself but you guys got every single call...especially on 3rd down.
Auburns run d was terrible, they don't have the speed they claim to have, Riggs blistered them and he is 6 ft 230...
Congats and good luck Au guys you have a great team and deserve more, just tired of hearing how bad TN is. What if Ainge or Schafer was playing? With the running game it would have been interesting:)

1-2, 3-8, 4-13, 6-21, what a total joke, I would be frigging pissed if I was Cal right now, already steeming b/c Auburn was left out, I agree Oklahoma should be there, but USC just has not impressed me this year, they are in because of last year. UCLA beat them if that idiot ref could call a fumble a fumble...

WELL PUT WAREAGLE...ANYONE WHO THINKS THAT GAME WAS CLOSE DID NOT PAY ATTENTION. AUBURN'S WORST EFFORT AND WE STILL BEAT A TOP 20 TEAM BY DOUBLE DIGITS!!! ANYONE WHO THINKS THE SEC IS NOT THE BEST CONFERENCE IN THE LAND NEEDS TO BE STERILIZED SO THEY WILL NOT REPRODUCE MORE IGNORANCE! WHAT A SHAME THAT AUBURN WILL HAVE TO WATCH FROM THE SIDELINES BECAUSE OF THE BcS AND ITS MANY FLAWS. HOPEFULLY, THIS YEAR WILL BE ENOUGH OF AN INJUSTICE TO DO AWAY WITH THE BCS FOR GOOD!!!!!

WAR EAGLE ANYWAY!!!!

Glad to see the Tigers are the SEC champs. In regards to letting the Vols hang around, I think the Kicker for Auburn stunk up the joint. His fumble and 15 yard kick were sad efforts but #35 Herring on defense played his worst game I've seen. 4 big runs, right at him and he blew the coverage and did not make the play. But mistakes hurt the tigers all day, even the int as the half ended was huge, gave the Vols hope.

My humble opinion on the BCS and the Bowl match-ups. I wanted to see Auburn make it to play USC or Okla because I think they could have given them a good run, but Coach T chose where he wanted to go by not running up the score in a few games this season. Now I don't agree with it but when you have to do it you HAVE to do it. He let his team down, they are undefeated and will not even get co-champion mention. I don't know if the extra 7 points would make the difference but if I were a coach I would have done it. Just like the Fake punt for USC against ND, the Fake punt for Okla against Colorado. Do I think it is right...No, but both Stoops and Carroll are doing it not to be an ass but because that is what is required in order to be in the championship. THIS also throws Auburn in a very bad spot, now they get a very strong VT team with a great defense. I'm looking at VT to pull a stunner!! Just my rantings.

Cheers

Beating a top 20 Team byt 10 pts shows were number one.

Beating a top 20 Team byt 10 pts shows were number one.

Where is UCLA and Colorado ranked? hmmm I didnt see either even ranked in the top 25. Auburn would beat USC nor Oklahoma hands down. I am pulling for the other team besides Auburn that deserves to be there. USC barely beat California which is a highly ranked team. We beat 3 in the top 10. Did USC accomplish that? I thank not!!!!!!! They dont play nobody!!!!

Travesty??? Best team in the country? How can you say that after that embarrassing performance??

Best team in the land???... you guys almost lost to a 3rd string QB powered offense. You just gave up a whopping 240 yards on the ground and gave up 4 touchdowns to a mediocre crappy Tennesse team that could barely squeek out a win to pathetic Kentucky a couple weeks ago.
Your defense got their ass taken out behind the shed tonight. Cadillac would get squashed by the USC or the OU D no problem so I wouldn't be whining about being #3.

Turn it on ABC.
