1 STAR: (502) MILWAUKEE (+7.5) over Phoenix
(Risking $110 to win $100)
7:05PM Central Time

The Bucks played two and a half good quarters yesterday afternoon in New Orleans before falling apart, but I expect a strong effort by them here. The Bucks are 5-2 against the spread in their last seven games as a home underdog and the dog is 10-1-1 against the spread in the last 12 meetings. Take the points!

NCAA

1 STAR: (507) TOLEDO (+5.5) over Eastern Michigan
(Risking $110 to win $100
6PM Central Time

I know that the Rockets are 0-10 on the road, but this is way too many points for them to be laying against this opponent. Toledo has won six straight meetings between these two teams and they are 6-2 against the spread in their last eight visits to Eastern Michigan. What has changed this year? I'll take the points here!

1 STAR: (514) CREIGHTON (-6) over Drake
(Risking $110 to win $100)
7PM Central Time

Drake is off to a great start this year and it looks very tempting to take the points here. But Creighton has won nine out of the last ten meetings between these two teams and the last five meetings played at Creighton have not even been close. The lowest margin of victory by the Blue Jays in these games has been eleven points. This line appears to be a bit high at first glance, but after looking at past performances I'll lay the chalk here!

Game: Wake Forest at Clemson Jan 22 2008 7:00PM

Prediction: Wake Forest
Reason: Wake Forest (12-5) gets double digits on Tuesday night as the head to Clemson (14-4). Willing to "take" the points with a Wake squad that's covered the spread in 13 of the last 19 meetings in this series, especially against a slumping Clemson team that's dropped 3 of their last 5 games OUTRIGHT! Double digits even more tempting knowing that the three games played in this series since 2006 have been decided by 1, 2, and 6 points.

Note: The 16-1 Bulldogs been the surprise team of the year under first year head coach Keno Davis, the son of former Iowa mentor Tom Davis. Last year they took it on the chops twice against Creighton and will look to improve on their 9-3 ATS mark as road dogs when playing with double revenge from losses the previous season. With the Blue Jays in off a 17-point same season revenge win on this court Saturday night, and just 4-12 ATS as favorites against .625 or better foes seeking double revenge from the previous year, we'll back the Bulldogs here tonight.

Wisconsin over Michigan

Wisconsin is a team that few expected to contend this season after losing a huge chunk of scoring from last year?s strong squad but the Badgers are rolling along. Wisconsin continues to climb the rankings with a dominant 5-0 start in Big Ten play and the Badgers have the most impressive balance of scoring in the nation as five different players have topped 20-points in the first five conference games. The Badgers coasted to an easy win in Ann Arbor earlier this season and the Badgers crushed Michigan at home last year. This is a tough spot for the struggling Wolverines facing the third road game in the last ten games and following up a tough home loss. Michigan is just 1-5 on the road this season and overall the Wolverines are 4-12 ATS. In the last five games the Badgers are shooting over 50 percent compared with a Michigan squad shooting 38 percent and new coach Beilein?s system is pretty reliant on quality shooting. The Michigan defense is allowing opponents to shoot over 46 percent in the last five games and this is simply a tough match-up. Wisconsin should deliver a convincing win at home tonight despite not being a team known for putting up big numbers.

Suns/Bucks over the total

If you're a fan of NBA defense....don't watch this game. These teams are in the Bottom 10 in points allowed, and the Bucks are real bad allowing 47% shooting by opponents, third worst in the league. That was a huge problem last season and they haven't fixed it. That's not a good thing against this devastating run-and-gun Phoenix offense. The last three meetings between these teams have all gone over the total. Play the Suns/Bucks over the total!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
DAVE COKIN

OHIO STATE

Illinois has had some real problems after halftime this season. They were at it again Saturday, squandering a lead at Purdue and going down by a 74-67 count. Same story in a loss to Arizona as well as their first meeting with the Buckeyes, and those were home games. This court has been a hellhole for the Illini, with Ohio State covering nine straight against them as hosts. Off three straight road losses, this game is important for the Buckeyes, and I believe they can get past the impost in a game they ought to win
----------------------------------------------------------------------

MATT RIVERS

For Tuesday take the Kings at home

This is a tough spot for the Kings as they are returning home for this lone game sandwiched between a pair of three game road trips but I llike what Sacramento is doing and will ride them here.
When healthy the Kings are not a bad team at all. These guys have played some decent ball this season and have been as beat up as any team out there. Ron Artest, Kevin Martin and Mike Bibby have all missed a ton of time and yet this team has somewhat kept its head above water. To be 17-22 without their three best players for a ton of time is a minor miracle.
The Nets have been extremely inconsistent as they can win eight straight games and then lose eight straight games. Overall Lawrence Frank's group is a disappointing 18-22 after losing five in a row and six of their last seven. Today Jason Kidd and the fellas are playing their third game of this six game West Coast road swing and after getting buried at both the Clippers and Suns I'm not too sure how much Kidd, Vince Carter and Richard Jefferson will be able to muster today as they are clearly on one of their downward swings.
Sacramento has won five of their last seven games and are always tough at Arco and this season has been no different as the pretty good 11-9 mark indicates. The Kings are healthy again and the team that is going up unlike the Nets and I don't any about faces going on today!

Tuesday's Plays...

20 Dime ?

WAKE FOREST

Take the points with Wake tonight over Clemson.

Wake is going to have a difficult time matching up inside against Clemson, but they are very good at pressuring and creating turnovers, something that has plagued Clemson this year.

Wake has played Clemson tough over the years, winning seven of the last eight meetings and covering the last five.

The road team is 6-2 ATS in the last eight in this series.

The Demon Deacons are coming off an impressive home win over Florida State on Sunday, 74-57 as a one-point chalk.

Clemson is coming off a 13-point loss at Duke and you have to wonder about the collective psyche of the Tigers after coming back twice from big deficits in that game, only to lose by double-digits. When they lost at home to Unc earlier this month they turned around and were beaten by Charlotte at home by 10 as a 15 ?-point chalk.

Take the points with Wake tonight as they stay within the number.

10 Dime ?

CREIGHTON

Take Creighton as the home chalk tonight over Drake.

Drake has been the surprise team in the Missouri Valley Conference, cracking the AP poll for the first time in 33 years.

Trying to stay ranked won?t be easy.

That?s because Creighton has swept the season series from Drake three straight years, and have won 19 of the last 23 meetings. Drake has also lost five straight at Creighton by an average of 16.6 points.

Creighton leads the conference in scoring and shooting percentage, and it?s going to be tough for Drake to hang without conference scoring leader Josh Young, who is out with a sprained ankle.

Take Creighton as the home chalk as they grab the win and cover tonight over Drake.

1. 200,000♦ Drake
2. 50,000♦ Ohio State
3. 50,000♦ Kings

1. Drake- So, Drake loses Josh Young, and all of a sudden everyone is jumping ship on this Bulldogs team? Not so fast, since the talented guard went down Drake is 3-0 SU & 2-1 ATS, winning games with rock-solid defense and a chemistry you don't see everyday in college hoops.
First of all, oddsmakers have clearly adjusted to the absence of Young, but the public hasn't. Most believe this Drake team is doomed without him, but what makes this Bulldogs team so dangerous in the first place is their depth. Players like G Adam Emmenecker have stepped up bigtime in his absence (scoring a team-high 19 points in their win over Illinois State Saturday). In other words, underestimate this Bulldogs team at your own risk!
Second, while there's no question both teams are playing well, its hard to argue against the Bulldogs 15-game winning streak! Only Kansas and Memphis have longer active streaks, which should tell you a lot about this Drake team. In fact, the last home game Creighton lost, was against Illinois State, the very same team the Bulldogs beat (without Josh Young) Saturday.
Finally, don't get stuck on the fact Drake hasn't won at Creighton in almost 6 years. That's what they said about Bulldogs' losing streaks to Southern Illinois (16-game losing streak) and Missouri State (10-game losing streak), both of which fell to Drake this season. Bulldogs win games with defense, and that doesn't change because of one player's injury. In the end, look for another focused effort from this Drake team tonight, as they might not win outright, but you better believe they keep this game within the number.
Take Drake plus the points over Creighton as your top-rated play of the day.

2. Ohio State- Tough spot for the struggling Illini, who are coming off an ugly collapse at Purdue, where they led early, but a 20-3 second half run sealed their fate, losing 74-67 Saturday. Won't get any easier in Columbus, as the Buckeyes are coming off 3 straight road losses, and will be looking to get back on track tonight at home.
The biggest mismatch in this contest is the sputtering Illinois offense against a rock-solid Buckeyes home defense. Ohio State plays their best defense by far in Columbus, surrendering just 55 ppg on an outstanding 34% shooting! That's real bad news for an Illini offense that's average at best, and with some tough match ups inside, the Illini are in for big trouble tonight.
Speaking of match ups, its clear that C Pruitt and F Randle make up the bulk of this Illinois offense, but that could be a real issue tonight. Ohio State's frontcourt of 7-footer Koufos and Othella Hunter are both big and talented. Both Buckeyes players are better on the defensive end (combined 60 blocks) and have the benefit of a solid experienced backcourt to get them the ball. Another factor to consider, is the Illini frontcourt's problems staying on the floor, especially Randle, who's constantly on the bench in foul trouble.
Finally, expect the Buckeyes to come out firing in this one, as their frusration from losing 3 straight road games boils over into outright rage in this contest. Losing can sometimes be the best motivator, and I firmly believe, now back at home, we'll see a much more efficient and focused Ohio State team tonight. Buckeyes roll!
Take Ohio State BIG over Illinois in this Big Ten match up.

3. Kings- Talk about two teams going in opposite directions, as the Kings are finally getting healthy and starting to put some wins together, while the Nets look like a ship without a rudder, as all Jason Kidd can think about is getting the hell out of New Jersey (not good when he's your supposed floor general)!
Losers of 5 straight games SUATS, the Nets offense has fallen apart, averaging just 90 ppg on 40% shooting over that span. Not only do they clearly miss Krstic, but Vince Carter is in another one of his "funks," scoring 16 ppg over the Nets last 7 games... No surprise New Jersey is 1-6 SUATS over that span!
The Kings on the other hand, have benefited greatly from the return of Kevin Martin, who since coming back is averaging 26 ppg, and led the Kings to outright wins over Dallas, at Detroit, and at Indiana! In others words, this Kings team is starting to put the pieces in place, and its showed with impressive wins. In fact, Sacramento is averaging 105 ppg on nearly 49% shooting since Martin's return... So you tell me how the Nets keep pace with this resurgent Kings offense?!
Bottom line, the Nets woes continue, as they stand little chance of running with this Kings team in their current state. Sacramento on the other hand, is playing rock-solid basketball, and will not allow a sputtering Nets team any breathing room on their home floor in this one. Like I said: two teams going in opposite directions, and tonight you see just far apart they are!
Take the Kings at home comfortably over the Nets in late NBA action.

double-dime bet521 Illinois 6.5 (-110) Bodog vs 522 Ohio St.
Analysis: Ohio St. returns home after a 3 game Road losing streak. Most average players will be jumping all over Ohio St. figuring they will get back on track now that they are back at home. Fact is this is a long term negative situation as Vegas knows that's how the public thinks and inflates the line on the Home Favorite. Also note that Ohio St beat Illinois at Illinois a few weeks ago and it's always a solid play to take road dog in rematch if they got beat at home. Look for ILLINOIS to take this to the Wire and pull off the UPSET. TAKE ILLINOIS and make them a DOUBLE DIME PLAY.

Bulldogs come in riding a 15-game win streak. They have beaten Conference foes Wichita State, Evansville and Bradley in that span. They also have dropped four straight to the Blue Jays S/U and ATS so come in with monster revenge and an 8-0 ATS spread record this year when playing against a team with a winning record this season. New Jersey Devils vs. Philadelphia Flyers (NHL)
Jan 22, 2008 7:05 PM EST

Play: Philadelphia Flyers

1 Unit, Take Philadelphia -127, The Flyers are the superior team here at home Tuesday night and they are 11-5 after scoring 4 or more goals in their previous game this season. The Flyers are a red hot 7-2 in January and they are averaging 5 goals per game over their last 5 games. The Flyers powerplay is converting at 24.8% at home this season and 35.7% over their last 5 games while the Devils powerplay is converting at just 10% over their last 5 games while averaging just 2.4 goals per game. The Flyers are coming off a huge 6-1 home win against perhaps the best overall team in the NHL (Ottawa Senators) and they will remain hot tonight at home at very good value.

DOC'S NCAA

4 Unit Play. #509 Take Wake Forest +12 over Clemson (7:00 pm FSN) The Demon Deacons look for a winning conference record tonight when the head on the road to Death Valley to take on the Tigers. After a hot start to the season the Tigers have fallen on harder times having lost three of their last five games including one against Charlotte. They are coming off a loss against Duke and much like earlier this month when they lost to UNC, the Tigers come out flat in their next game. Wake keeps this close throughout and we collect big in the process.

4 Unit Play. #514 Take Creighton -5 ? over Drake (8:00 pm KMTV) A key game in the MVC takes place tonight in Ohama, NE, as the Creighton Blue Jays try and get back into the MVC Conference race. Drake sits atop the standing and is an impressive 16-1 on the season. That being said, the Blue Jays have a big lead in the all-time series and have won sixth straight games against the Bulldogs. After a slow start, Creighton has come on of late having won five straight games and is coming off an 86-point in their last meeting. They will win this game by double-digits and move within one game of first place in the MVC.

4 Unit Play. #522 Take Ohio State -6 ? over Illinois (9:00 pm Big 10 Network) This is more a play against Illinois, who with each loss become more and more frustrated with how the season is going. They dominated early against Purdue, yet still came of short and that is starting to take its toll on them. The Illini have lost six of their last seven including five of six in the Big Ten. The Buckeyes have been a much better team at home this season winning nine of ten games with their only loss coming to North Carolina. Ohio State has already won in Illinois by 16 points and expect a similar type of game tonight. I can see the Fighting Illini coming in really flat and down for the count early.

STRIKE POINT SPORTS

Tuesday's College Basketball Picks

2-Unit Play (4-point Teaser) Take Drake +9.5 over Creighton (8 pm) / Tennessee -.5 over Kentucky (9 pm)

Still perfect in MVC play, Drake will stay inside of double figures of the Blue Jays, if not again find a way to win this one on the road. News suggests that the Bulldogs' top scorer Josh Young will be back tonight, but still, Drake has stepped up big without him. They knocked of Bradley on the road and then handed Illinois State its first conference loss last Saturday. This is a balanced offense that has two others scoring in double figures, and more that gives them a lot of supplemental producitvity in the starting lineup and off the bench. This number will be good here.

The Vols will come through with enough to leave Lexington with the victory. They have one of the more balanced offenses in the country, and a high-paced scoring attack that has found itself over 80 points per game on a consistent basis. Also, look for their full court press, the best I have seen this season, to create mistakes from Kentucky and again get them out of their game. This match-up goes to Tennessee.

Best of Luck - Strike Point Sports

AND FERRINGO

1.5-Unit Play. First Half: Take #510 Clemson (-6) over Wake Forest (7 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 22)
1-Unit Play. Take #510 Clemson (-11.5) over Wake Forest (7 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 22)
Wake Forest has lost its last three road games by seven, 39, and 22 points. Because they?ve been playing well lately I think the books are trying to sucker you into a bet on the surprising Deacons. However, the Tigers have the style and personnel to handle these big numbers. Wake doesn?t have anyone on the inside to stop the Tigers? frontcourt power and they shoot 24.1 percent from 3-point land on the road. In fact, over its last six games the Deacons are 33-for-122 (27 percent) from deep. If they can?t get to the basket, can?t shoot from long range, and can?t rebound then they can?t cover. You?d think. Of course, there?s always Clemson?s free throw shooting issues. Only thing keeping this play so low. Here?s to hoping for 60 percent. Wake is 12-26-3 ATS after a win so look for a mini-letdown and a blowout loss.

1-Unit Play. Take #515 Colorado State (+9) over Air Force (9 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 22)
Kind of a lot of points for a rivalry game here. Lots of freshmen on both sides so I?m expecting an up-and-down game. Air Force did tattoo UNLV at home awhile ago but beyond that the Falcons have played the sorriest collection of fringe D-I teams you can find. Norfolk State, Prairie View A&M, Radford, and Mississippi Valley State have all fell victim to mighty Air Force. Road team is 11-3 ATS in this series, the dog is 12-4 ATS, Air Force outscores teams by just two points per game on the year, and CSU gets outscored by just five points per this season. Also, the Falcons are getting over 70 percent of the action but the line hasn't moved. Could be an indicator.

1-Unit Play. Take #523 Ball State (+2) over Northern Illinois (8 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 22)
We're playing the line movement in this one. Nearly 85 percent of all action in this game is going on NIU but we've actually seen a reverse line movement as the number has dropped from -3.0 at the open. Ball State is a better shooting team from the field and from the free throw line and they've taken the last two in this series. They are 5-2 ATS in the series and NIU is 4-12 ATS as a home favorite.

I also have a solid (1-Unit) lean on New Mexico (-5) over Utah tonight. That's it for today. Good luck.

double-dime bet514 Creighton / 513 Drake Over 133.5 BetUS
Analysis: NCAAB: Drake Bulldogs at Creighton Bluejays - Over 133.5 -110 | Unit Value: 2 DIMES
Game Date: 1/22/2008
Note: These two teams play very different styles of play but they both do 2 things very well. They both have outstanding offensive efficiency and they both play oustanding defense. So that should cancel out everything right? Perhaps so, and perhaps not. Trend-wise we they are butting heads as well with all 7 Creighton home games over OVER the posted mark, 10-3 OVER this year regardless of where they play, Drake 5-1 Under on the road, and 11-2 Under in all games. It looks like, based on these facts, that we should leave this one alone. But there are plenty of reasons to believe that we will see enough scoring activity to push this one over. Certainly one of those is the fact that we have a much lower total line than we would normally have for a Home Bluejay contest. That is because of the Bulldogs being dubbed an Under team. These two squads have played a lot of slow scoring games when they have played, but all of them have been on the Bulldog's Floor. Here in Creighton we have seen 135, 151, 149, 145, and 147 over the last 5 years and those games also had a posted total in the mid to high 130's. The Bluejays control the pace here and that is just a simple fact. They do not want to get into the halfcourt type play that Drake brings to the table and they are going to push the action in order to avoid that. They have the shooting capacity to score often and they have done so at 47.5% here at home and right at 40% from beyond the arc. They have proven that they can make a team play their style as they did with slow paced Ark Little, Nebraska and Indiana State. This is the biggest game to date for the Jays as they absolutely must win to keep pace with the visitors and a highly motivated team tonight should be clicking on all cylanders. These teams rebound very well, they also shoot free throws very well. We should see a lot of physical board crashing tonight and more than our share of free throw attempts. That is going to help our cause and so is the fact that we are likely to see a close enough affair to give us some bonus Free Shots toward the end. These two will play at Drake later this year but this is a Bluejay Game and we will see the Bluejay style of play tonight. That is going to give us what we want.
