NBA Selection

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008 8:00 PM EST.
Phoenix Suns (29-12) at Milwaukee Bucks (16-25)

The Suns go for their fourth straight win and have taken seven of the last eight against the Bucks. The last time these teams met on January 12 at US Airways Center, Phoenix grabbed a 122-114 victory over Milwaukee. Expect the Bucks to step up on offense tonight at the Bradley Center to stay with the high power Suns. Phoenix is averaging 110 points per game and the total has gone over in 7 of the last 8 clashes. Take the points. The Suns are just 4-6 away from home in its last ten games, going 4-5-1 ATS. The dog has been profitable in this series. Underdog is 10-1-1 ATS in the last 12 meetings. Milwaukee is 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings versus Phoenix.

New Jersey Nets (18-22) at Sacramento Kings (17-22)
The struggling Nets continue to play awful, the worst offensive team in the league. New Jersey is 0-5 both straight-up and ATS in its last 5 games and has lost eight straight and 10 of its last 11 at Sacramento. Go with the Kings. Sacramento is an ugly 2-8 ATS in their last 10 home games, but has covered the spread in six of their last 8 against Eastern Conference teams.

OVER 201
New Jersey at Sacramento

When the Kings were playing without Bibby and Martin,
and playing a fourth straight road game, they nevertheless
went into New Jersey and won 106-101. Bibby and Martin
are back to give them better depth for better ability to push
the tempo, which is something that Nets players have
been complaining that the coach wasn't allowing THEM
to do earlier in the season. When Lawrence Frank
relented a little and let the players have their way, it
really hasn't made much of a difference. The Nets
kinda stink.

Instead of taking less money and making room for him to stay,
The Three Morons -- Kidd, Carter and Jefferson -- advised
Mikki Moore to leave the Nets after last season, for more
money in Sacramento. Moore scored only 6 points in 32
minutes in the Kings' win last month, but he is more effective
playing 18-20 minutes as the 7-foot-tall perimeter-shooting
mismatch, than he is being forced to play both ways for
extended minutes out of necessity. Now that Martin and
Bibby are back, Moore can return to that role as a luxury,
and Bibby hasn't really guarded anyone since he came into
the league so this should be a quick-paced, wide-open game
all the way. SACRAMENTO, 118-109.

YTD
5-3 (2-unit)
50-32 (1-unit)

515/516 Ball State @ Northern Illinois over 128 (2-units)

The Husky?s are currently #59 in the league in pace with an average of 71.4 possessions per game which is quite remarkable considering that their schedule has consisted of teams that average 1.8 possessions below league average.

Ball State has also played a schedule full of teams that play slower, which is a big reason for their current 62.2 possession per game average. The Cardinals have played only five above average pace teams this season and in each game they exceeded 67 possessions. The Huskies will be the fasted pace team that they have faced this season.

Neither one of these teams has played very good defense this year with the Cardinals allowing opponents to shoot 45.5% from the field, while the Huskies opponents are shooting 45.9% from the field. The Cardinals are ranked #315 in perimeter defense and the Huskies #324.

Ball State's offense, which had been the worst in the Mid-American Conference the first two months of the season, has been revived off late. The Cardinals scored a season-best 82 points on Jan. 13 while shooting 54.5 percent from the field (the first time they topped .500 in 46 games). They lapsed against Western Michigan, but bounced back with another good effort against Eastern Michigan.

Both of these teams offenses has been poor this season but since the beginning of conference play each team has picked it up with both shooting better than 44% ( I threw out the blowout game with Ball St @ WMU). There is a pretty strong trend indicated that the Cardinals will play games against up-tempo opponents at a much faster pace than their season average and I like the over quite a bit here with this short total.

Game: Wake Forest at Clemson Jan 22 2008 7:00PM

Prediction: Wake Forest
Reason: Wake Forest (12-5) gets double digits on Tuesday night as the head to Clemson (14-4). Willing to "take" the points with a Wake squad that's covered the spread in 13 of the last 19 meetings in this series, especially against a slumping Clemson team that's dropped 3 of their last 5 games OUTRIGHT! Double digits even more tempting knowing that the three games played in this series since 2006 have been decided by 1, 2, and 6 points.

Game: Edmonton at Tampa Bay (7:30 PM Eastern)
Pick: Game Total UNDER 6 -120

Johan Holmqvist hasn't allowed a goal for his last 121 minutes of play and his team isn't scoring of late. Over the last five games, Lightning games have averaged just 4.2 goals each. Tampa Bay is 30-11 UNDER in their last 41 games after two straight games in which under 4 total goals were scored. They are 8-1 UNDER at home in January now this season and last.

NCAA Basketball:

5 Unit Black Magic CBB Dog of the Week on Colorado State +9

Colorado State is the play tonight as the strongest underdog Tuesday. Air Force has no chance of winning this game by double-digits, let alone winning the game at all. With just 1 returning starter this year, Air Force isn?t the same dominant team they were a year ago. Colorado State is 6-4 ATS in their last 10 meetings at Air Force. Colorado State is 6-2 ATS in their eight lined road games this season. Colorado State is 7-1 ATS as an underdog this season. Air Force is 6-15 ATS against conference opponents over the last 2 season. Cash in with Colorado State as the underdog.

3 Unit Sharp Play on Drake +5.5

The Drake Bulldogs are 16-1 on the season and own the MVC?s best record after beating Illinois State last Saturday. Creighton used to be the powerhouse in this conference, but that is no longer and it?s time for the Bulldogs to put the Blue Jays in their place tonight. Drake is 8-0 ATS when playing against a team with a winning record this season. Drake is 7-1 ATS versus good defensive teams allowing less than 64 points a game this season. Cash in with Drake as the underdog.

NBA:

3 Unit Sharp Play on Sacramento Kings -6

The Sacramento Kings go for their 4th victory in their last 5 games. The Kings have beaten the Mavs, Pacers and Pistons over the last week, each game being the underdog. The Kings have their 3 best players at full strength with Mike Bibby, Kevin Martin and Ron Artest playing inspired basketball to try and make a playoff push as we near the All-Star break. The New Jersey Nets are 0-5 straight up and ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Kings are 7-0 ATS in their last 7 Tuesday night games. Cash in with Sacramento as the favorite.
