No way the Gold Medal game should be decided this way.
homer :0003It has been like that in international hockey since 1988, so fucking dumb. Just like World Cup soccer, beyond stupid to have it all decided with a shoot-out.
Even worse when you lose a wager that way.............

Kickserv....Canada sucks
Been saying this for years, it is ludicrous to decide a Championship in any sport by breakaways or penalty kicks.
It's really a shame when a player from your country rips off the silver medal and refuses to wear it.
Jocelyne Larocque :facepalm:
It means you finished 2nd. :facepalm:
Which is last (if you are Canadian or American).
And for the record Women's hockey should not even be an Olympic sport, the game has not grown since its inception, still only two teams, no depth at all in the sport, nothing has changed, it will continue to be USA/Canada forever.
2nd = last
That's how much I know. Only 2 teams? :lol:
They shouldn't even have it then.
Well technically there are more then two teams, but it would be like having an NCAA basketball tournament with Villanova and Duke and then every other team would be made up of Elementary school children.
Would you think you accomplished something if you lost in the final? No you would not.
If women's hockey continues in the Olympics it will always be USA versus Canada for the gold.

That medal also means you were good enough to be there and beat out hundreds/thousands of others to earn your spot on the team. It represents the work you put in to getting there and should not be dismissed as you say.
It's also incredibly disrespectful to the players and teams that would have killed to win a medal. You are pretty much saying, "you are shit IMO".

This ^^^^^
Take note Kickserve.....I get that it's a tough loss and she's a competitor. But where it's completely wrong to do while everyone is watching you as you receive it, is it makes a mockery of winning a silver medal. Some countries have never won a medal, and a silver or bronze is a very important to them and all the others who win a medal for their hard work. It minimalizes winning a silver or bronze for all those who worked hard for 4 years just to win any medal. That, in essence, is the definition of a poor sport and is completely disrespectful to the fundamental ideals of good sportsmanship.
