I will be sitting out these glorified exhibitions..

How are champion league matches glorified exhibitions? This is the top soccer in the world in the best club completion on earth. Or did i misunderstand something?

Just my opinion...You act like all these Champion League matches mean something to both teams yesterday and today...Today?s and yesterday?s matches are an exhibition to at least one team in over 85 to 90% of the matches..

Dude, leave the negativity out of this forum. You tailed, it didn't work out yesterday. Suck it up and move on. No need to bust the balls of one of the best posters on this site because you're unwilling to put yourself out there, and post a soccer play.

He asked me a question and I answered it...It is a public forum so I can post anytime as long as I am not confrontational and bashing the guy...I did not bash PK so not sure why you are calling me out...Have a great day!!!

I respect your opinion, in my opinion they are meaningful. Every champions league match a team wins the team gets 2.7 million and every draw 900K. I apologize for failing this week, that is totally in me and I?m not happy about it either. But to me a glorified exhibition is a match that doesn?t really mean anything to either team. But that?s just my opinion, i respect your take. It?s just hard for me to believe a team would not want to win almost 3 million

The teams not playing for just money were playing for advancement and a bigger purse.

My son is in club soccer in NW FL and with league dues/travel expenses it is probably at 2500-3000 for the year. I'm on the board of the club and we do offer assistance to families, but our budget doesnt really allow for but 1 or 2 "full rides" plus partials to others. That only covers registration and monthly dues. They still have to cover uniforms (new every 2 years as mandated by parent club affiliation), travel and tourney fees.

I dont know the answer on how to fix it but it does seem broken and can leave talent on the outside.

Here in Northwest Arkansas it is the same for Soccer and youth baseball. It is a 2-3K annual nut. The problem here is the tournaments every weekend or so. The coaches all for the most part volunteer except for a few that are paid by the parents. The tournament directors charge 300-400 a weekend for the tourneys and make a shitload of cash. It adds up over a year for these entries plus hotel/gas/food etc etc....The problem is the parents that can afford this don't blink an eye and treat it as the norm. They feel if they don't their kid will get left behind. This leaves the less fortunate out in the cold for the most part and talent missed. The only positive is organized school sports starting in the 7th grade. We just have to hope that the kids have not lost interest if not able to financially participate for a couple of years.
