They both have underachieved this year.

Memphis is on their 4th string QB who is actually a wide receiver.

Hackney and D Williams are friends off the field, but UAB has owned him on the field. Memphis completely one dimensional.

UAB has given up 5 yds/carry rushing the last 3 games, when they had to watch the pass. Memphis wont pass the ball more than 15 times, and at best complete 10 of them.

Hackney has field days on Memphis D.

My opinion UAB +2.5. But I see a lot of great cappers on Memphis.

Hope that helps some.

I see some good cappers on the under, main stat supporting that is these two teams have been under 5 of last 7 matchups. My take is as follows. Teams that need a win (UAB) or are playing at home(Memphis) can pull defense out of thin air. Offensive talent is different; you either have it or you dont. There are plenty of strategies to substitute for lousy defense such as ball control and field position games.

IMO UAB is a team that is desperate for a win after losing some close ones, and Memphis needs this one at home to make a bowl more likely and snap a losing streak against UAB. With the Vols looming, Memphis REALLY needs this one. Defenses will play a little above themselves, and that gives the edge to UAB because Memphis has a one dimensional offense. If UAB stuffs the box, it will be tough for Memphis' 4th string QB to beat them downfield. Dangelo(SP?) will get his, but running means ball control, long drives, and short games.

Throw all this into the pot and whadduya get? Hackney and his passing attack have owned Memphis in his tenure, so the only team that can break away in this game is UAB. If Memphis wins it will be a close one, alot of emotion involved in beating a team that has beat them 5 straight times. UAB with the passing game and Memphis' pisspoor defense could win going way, and would be harder to beat by more than a TD. Solution:

I'm teasing UAB up to 9.5 and the under to 59. I like unders in games like these because you can lay a half time over bet if it looks like you're in trouble. And in this game, you're gonna know if you're in trouble right away.

FYI bestline sports has it at +3 / 53.

memphis is definitely about as one-dimensional as it gets. but that one dimension is pretty damn good. uab is probably the play, but it's very difficult taking a team that is making a habit out of losing close games.

hackney is a pretty solid qb, and he should get it done tonight. but with d'angelo williams on the other side, i wouldn't bet the farm on it. ya know... i gotta get me a farm. just so i can bet it at some point.

very, very good writeup man.

Thanks for the support, I hate when people call small conference games garbage. Theres just as much money to make in the MAC and CUSA as there is in top 25 or top conference action. Hopefully a goldmine tonight..GL
