in all fairness, i've also had plenty of shitty runs ended by a dealer change.

but i'm pretty sure i've had this guy as a dealer. a lot. every time i double on 11 against an 8. here comes the ace!

40 years ago, I only played blackjack. It was fun, and I could play back and forth for hours. For the last 20 years, I rarely play. The rules have become terrible, and it really does feel like I'm being cheated, too.

yup. another thing i hate is casinos jacking up the min table amounts. i'm usually fine with playing a quarter table, but when that's the min or one step up from the min, the table will be full of players who have no business being at a quarter table. shockingly, most gamblers don't understand having the proper bankroll for the table they're playing. and on a wednesday afternoon, there's no reason for just about any casino to not have $5 tables available.

about 5 years ago, i found out we were getting a local casino the day before it was officially announced. i told my GF the "good" news. she replied "should i move out now, or when the casino opens?"

she won't admit it, but i know she's shocked by how rarely i go, and it's only 15 minutes away.

that said, one of these days i'm gonna start playing poker again. :)

In the 90's and early 20's I could play all night and hold my own. Now, after an hour or so I can be crushed. I don't get it.

You pretty much have to play $100 min in high limit to get the decent rules (3/2, dealer stays on soft 17, surrender, double after split, etc) but even there I'm skeptical because of the magical hands the dealer pulls out of his ass. Many times you're playing heads up in there and I don't trust them anymore.

I'm sure a lot of this is our own beliefs, rather than what is actually happening, but it would be great to actually be able to track the hands.

It really does seem like the dealer has an unbalanced amount of face cards in the hole, when a face card is showing.

It's definitely not the same.

Same here. Can’t last that long now or they’ll get all your money.

Blackjack going from 3/2 to 6/5 pisses me off, that's theft. I try to find tables that pay 3/2 but they have ridiculous rules of no double unless it's 10/11, give me a break. If I have A,3 I'm doubling against a dealer 5-6. I went a couple weeks ago and it's not as much fun as it used to be. I agree with you smitty the clowns that play blackjack these days don't have a clue, that's a big pet peeve of mine. If someone hits something they shouldn't I find another table and yes I hit 16, lol...and I only play 3rd base too

are you shitting me? some casinos now only allow you to double on 10 or 11? holy shit, i wouldn't even play. and if blackjack pays 6/5, i'm only playing if it's a single deck table.

strange thing about Surrender... it's a great rule, one of the few in our favor (probably still available because most players don't use it)... and yet it feels like every session i play with Surrender available, i lose. mathematically, makes no sense, but it seems like i do better hitting 16 against a 10 than i do if i Surrender. i do, however, enjoy the look on other players' faces when i do it, because they have zero clue what it is.

and to the point above... yeah, back in the day i always said time stood still when i was at a blackjack table. probably helps that i almost never drink at the tables. but i'd never get tired or even hungry. it was bizarre. but now (the rare times that i play) i never get a good enough table that i can stick around that long.

I rarely drink when playing blackjack. I have played for 12 hours before left to pee and get a bite to eat. Won over 3 dimes that day. I hate all the in and out people, drives me crazy. Everyone at your table needs to be playing basic strategy, you have to have a good third baseman to, to control the cards the dealer gets. Why would you ever surrender? Don't be a pussy hit 16 lol

After going a few weeks back Its not as much fun as is used to be when I was in my 20-30 early 40's. I feel cheated at the 6/5 tables, it makes me not want to go back.

never surrender....at a 6/5 table taking even money is not that big of a deal, I never did when blackjack paid 3/2 may have to re-think that strategy.

You're not going to have the option to surrender playing 6/5.

Do the math. You have 16 vs dealer 10. Surrendering is the best option, no question, no debate. There are other instances when you should surrender as well. Look it up.

A blackjack table that offers surrender and makes a dealer stay on soft 17 are the hardest tables to find. I wonder why?

I am stubborn, lol. I just hit 16 against a 7 or more. I am not even sure the tables in Lake Charles, LA offer surrender. Next time I go I will find out.

I looked it up.
The early surrender option allows you to quit the hand and pay only 1/2 of your initial bet before the dealer checks for a blackjack. The early surrender option is the best one for players, as the chance to use an early surrender reduces the game's house advantage by 62 percent

I learned something today, thanks Jack :smilies8

And hopefully you have great Reflexes at the table, and she's Hungry Like the Wolf after the concert.

Also, if you are going to see Duran Duran you should be staying at the Rio:kurby

Regardless you'll have a good time at the Wynn, they have views there that one would kill for.
