Leonard---4 over after 4, Toms 3 under. I'm surprised at Leonard's start. I thought he would be all over this tourney. Guess not.

Now 6 over through 6. It looks strange to see 6 bogeys on his card to start the round. I bet this hasn't happened to him since he was 10 years old. Even money on finishing the first round.

RSJ

Richard S Johnson +100 over Brandt Snedeker

I was in complete agreement with this play but just when I went to play it, the line jumped from - 105 to - 115. I felt the value was lost and I passed on it. Wish I stuck with it as RSJ looks good to start. He's leading the field going out in the first nine at - 4.

Thank you Verplank for bogeying the 17th and 18th while Toms birdied the last. Allowed my parlay to hit. I had given up on that one. I hate going against Verp, he usually kills me, but I just had to take Toms in this spot.

I love getting the occasional Thursday off, allowing me to really get involved in the tournament. Sometimes chasing in the afternoon, sometimes going for the kill with their money. I love wagering on golf, it's really, really fun for me. betting on other sports is, well, just gambling, and not as much fun.

Woody Austin -120 over Boo

Phil has no intentions on winning this thing, I made the mistake of backing him before a Us Open a few years back. hell id be surprised if he made the cut this wk.. specially after seeing him doing us open prep at bethpage earlier this week.

Looking good bud, :SIB

I need to figure a way to get these books funded, i am so frustrated looking at brandts score :chairshot

Round 1 plays (1pt):

Tim Clark to beat Henrik Stenson -125 @ FiveDimes
Opposing Stenson who has been very hit-and-miss this year. He followed two top-3s in the Middle East with a first round exit in the World Matchplay and finished virtually last in his next event; he then finished 3rd in the Houston Open, but then was nowhere in his next two events before winning the Players Championship. Since then, he has played in two European Tour events and missed the cut badly both times. The week before a Major, he's far more likely to have another 'miss' particularly with no previous course experience. Clark, by contrast, has been extremely consistent this year and held the lead after 54 holes last year on this course.

Tailed you in a big way on this one and it went exactly as you said. Just wanted to say thanks. :toast:

Good stuff Stan. I expect a MC at Bethpage for Stenson there as well, seems like he has lost interest. The tv yesterday said so..

Tough Push

Tough Push

Tournament Matchups for 18 holes for the Second Round only :
Three Units :
Brian Gay over Woody Austin @ - 125. Push.

.

Brian Gay has a four stroke lead with two holes to go and at the time, was the overall leader by five or six strokes.

Gay goes for a bogey on 17 while Woody gets a birdie to cut the lead in half. Still comfortable with only one hole left.

Gay finds the bunker but each is left with a nine foot putt. However, Gay for par, Woody for birdie.

Gay sinks & Woody misses, both drop it in, or both miss and I still win. Of course, the fourth scenerio happens as Woody nailed his nine footer for birdie while Gay missed for a bogey.

Thought this was in the bag after 16 but you can never tell what happens down the stretch.

Wow, has this guy has really fallen off since winning the Players Championship. I've seen players who won tournaments on a fluke fall after a win but usually not someone with as much talent as Henrik Stenson. Missed a couple of cuts after the Players in Europe and now will miss this cut too.

I'm glad because I faded him expecting a drop off after the win and traveling back across seas and then decided to ride out the fade ever since based on how poorly he is playing. So keep up the good (bad) work Henrik!

You think Stenson will miss the cut next week at Bethpage too? If he had lost interest, you would think the US Open would bring back the motivation. Again, to talented for it to continue much longer but I'm riding this fade wave till the wave ends.

Off Pettersson

Off Pettersson

Ok, last time I take even a one unit play on Carl Pettersson till he turns it around...if he ever does.

I've been taking a shot on him against moderate players always at plus odds and usually + 120 or more. Granted they've all only been one unit plays but I've got to realize just how badly he is playing.

Plus six today makes it plus nine for the tourney and another missed cut. This guy has missed the cut in TEN of the last ELEVEN events. The only one he made the cut was the Crowne Plaza and he still finished 64th. Also, he ranks last or next to last in par threes and not much better in any of the other stats either. Absolutely awful.

On tv yesterday they said, that stenson was worn out, and was looking forward to a vacation and time away from golf

It sure looks it because he hasn't gotten anything accomplished since the Players.
A vacation might be the best thing for him.
