Wife loves Star Wars  she bought the complete Saga......six movies to catch up on before she brings me to the movies .......She started on the first movie last night, I fell asleep within 30 minutes. God help me xstop
Saw it and liked it
Seemed more story driven like episodes 4-5-6 (which it should as its next in timeline) than episodes 1-2-3 which seemed more action/fight/battle oriented
Rewatched all 6 episodes a few months ago and originally didn't really care much for episodes 1 or 2 but after re-watch ing they werent as bad as i recalled.
Definitely liked episode 3 and empire strikes back the best of the seven and put this one right there with episode 4 (original star wars) followed by return of jedi, episode 2 and then episode 1.
Think a few stretches in the story on this one as it should be approx 20-25 years after return of jedi but ends with me wanting to know more and eager for next episode.
I think we're on the same page. I think Revenge of the Sith and The Empire Strikes Back are the two best in the series. This is a lot like A New Hope. If I had a complaint, it's with the general plot. We're just blowing up another Death Star? They couldn't come up with something different? I liked the concept of Solo's son being the bad guy. Seems like they should have just expanded upon that.....but I think that's what the next movie will do.
Side note: I found myself getting into it in a way that is hard to explain. This felt like watching Star Wars when I was a kid. I had a weird physical sensation that reminded me of how a smell can tie to a memory from your past. JJ did a great job of capturing the feel of the original 3.
I only watched the first 3 when I was a kid
You mean episode 4, 5 and 6
What did you think of Hans Solo's son? I had no problem he being a Villain I just didn't like his character in the movie or the actor.
I thought Adam Driver did an ok job, not great, not bad. If the movie wasn't PG he would have done much better. It is hard to be an excellent "bad guy" in a PG movie, just sayin' We shall see how he does in part 8. Adam Driver was a sadistic fuck in an episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (and he nailed it), just thought I'd throw that out there.
Rey was great and she will be a star.
I agree with this. It was a good film, but it wasn't great. You could also tell it was a Disney film, it was lacking a certain dark aspect if that makes sense.
Also, there were way too many attempts at humor I felt. It isn't a comedy.
