The wife and I will view it next weekend. Movies are like women. Its in the eye of the beholder.
Went to In The Heart of the Sea last weekend which the critics gave a splat and loved it. Very good movie. Last night viewed Creed that received very high ratings and was just a movie. Nothing special. If you dont like it does not mean it is not a good movie by others standards.

Saw it and liked it

Seemed more story driven like episodes 4-5-6 (which it should as its next in timeline) than episodes 1-2-3 which seemed more action/fight/battle oriented

Rewatched all 6 episodes a few months ago and originally didn't really care much for episodes 1 or 2 but after re-watch ing they werent as bad as i recalled.

Definitely liked episode 3 and empire strikes back the best of the seven and put this one right there with episode 4 (original star wars) followed by return of jedi, episode 2 and then episode 1.

Think a few stretches in the story on this one as it should be approx 20-25 years after return of jedi but ends with me wanting to know more and eager for next episode.

I think we're on the same page. I think Revenge of the Sith and The Empire Strikes Back are the two best in the series. This is a lot like A New Hope. If I had a complaint, it's with the general plot. We're just blowing up another Death Star? They couldn't come up with something different? I liked the concept of Solo's son being the bad guy. Seems like they should have just expanded upon that.....but I think that's what the next movie will do.

Side note: I found myself getting into it in a way that is hard to explain. This felt like watching Star Wars when I was a kid. I had a weird physical sensation that reminded me of how a smell can tie to a memory from your past. JJ did a great job of capturing the feel of the original 3.

Agree with all of this

Cheers went up in the theatre when all the original star wars characters made their initial appearance on the screen

Princess leia has aged the most
R2d2 looks the same

Where it is real F ing COLD
I liked the movie and was glad I went to the theater to watch it. It was a good movie but definitely not great. As mentioned before I was hoping for another plot and they didn't have enough of the Vader want to be and to be honest I thought the actor was a little bit wimpy to play the villain type, He didn't have that presence of Darth Vader but I suppose asking for that would have been a bit tough. Also seemed like the ending was a little bit rushed, but I am really hoping this movie leads to more to come. I only watched the first 3 when I was a kid and never watched the return of the sith, guess I will have to go rent the ones I missed. Nice to see the old characters have a roll. Daisey Ridely who plays Rey really makes the movie work, the other new character I could have done without.

You mean episode 4, 5 and 6

Yes but those were the first three movies to come out, those were all kick ass movies, glad I was able to watch them all at the theater and Star Wars is really the first movie I can remember seeing,. I could watch Empire Strikes Back every day. What did you think of Hans Solo's son? I had no problem he being a Villain I just didn't like his character in the movie or the actor.

I thought Adam Driver did an ok job, not great, not bad. If the movie wasn't PG he would have done much better. It is hard to be an excellent "bad guy" in a PG movie, just sayin'

We shall see how he does in part 8.

Adam Driver was a sadistic fuck in an episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (and he nailed it), just thought I'd throw that out there.

I thought killing your own father is pretty brutal. Hell Vader never even did that. I think in the end Rey will end up being Ren's sister. I will see it again but I thought of it as on par with the first two. Rey was great and she will be a star.

I get why some people think it's a rehash but damn isn't eveything a rehash now anyway to some extent? I actually thought of Raiders of the lost Ark sometimes.

Rey was great and she will be a star.

Daisy Ridley went from pretty much unknown, to a huge star in a flash. Part 8 currently filming and then she has two more roles on the go. It will be very interesting to see how she does in Part 8, but she nailed Part 7 that's for sure.

Daisy Ridley also likes to have sex with men and women so that is an added bonus, that has nothing to do with her acting but thought I'd just throw that in there.

Note: Mark Hamill was a nobody in 1977 and after Return of Jedi in 1983 he didn't exactly break out into a huge superstar. Of course he didn't need to anyway, he still makes major bank from Part 4, 5 and 6 so I don't think he gives a fuck.

I agree with this. It was a good film, but it wasn't great. You could also tell it was a Disney film, it was lacking a certain dark aspect if that makes sense.

Also, there were way too many attempts at humor I felt. It isn't a comedy.

This review is dead on to me. I saw it over the weekend. The humor attempts knocked it down at least a point. I go 6.5/10
