i thought he looked a little sloppy early but settled down. Very solid fighter and a handful for anyone.
Melendez is lucky to be in the top 5, IMO. I think Edgar, Maynard would tear his ass up and he'd be luck to hang with the other top guys.

Gilbert Melendez - I said last night that he failed to impress and I stand by my words. That was not a star making performance. That wasn't even a star maintaining performance. That was the single worst performance in a championship fight that I can remember in 2011. His face was a mess post-fight and he landed 24% of his strikes. That's a terrible statistic. He's listed as a winner because he won but he has some work to do to even enter discussions on top lightweights.

Jorge was down on all score cards and there wasn't any bit of urgency to try and finish the fight. Embarrassing performance in a title fight for a usually exciting fighter.

To 'throw the right' if Jorge felt 'comfortable'? Jorge didn't have a championship performance and it started with his corner.

i busted Bucks balls about Gilbert but i have to be honest here. It was just ball bustin cause i haven't seen much of Gilbert. Im gonna side with Bucks here and say Gilbert is top five. At first last night i thought he was really sloppy but he might have been a little nervous. When he settled down he showed some really nice hands and i thought his kicks were strong. Showed a nice chin also. Nice takedown defence and had a solid choke on that i thought he might finish.
i know u can't read his threads u silly bastard but u can't honestly say that Gilbert is a scrub. He is a solid fighter. That kid he fought was tough. A nitwit but tough. Gilbert would be a handful for anyone and i think he would beat Henderson because his hands are much better.
There is only 1 LW in the world I think would give Melendez a tough fight, maybe beat him, and thats Ben Henderson. Maynard? BAHHHHH, He'd destroy him.

Henderson's achilles heel will be guys with better hands. anyone with better hands and wrestling will beat him unless he keeps improving in this area. That is why i think Gilbert would beat him. It is why he had trouble with Pettis but beats guys like Guida and Miller who have average hands and Henderson can out wrestle them.
