Does anyone know exactly what the BSU player said? For all we know he could have said "good game". Not very likely but something like that could have been said.
There should have been an arrest.

You guys have lost your fucking minds. Now you want the fucking police and lawyers and prosecutors involved in a football game? Are you nuts?

:mj07: :mj07: :mj07:

He's just unlucky he landed the punch. Had he missed it would have been 1 or 2 games.

Meanwhile Shawn Merrian choked a girl, he will prob get 1 or 2 games  And you fuckers want this KID prosecuted for that. Get a grip. Can you do it on the street, NO, but you aren't on the fkin street, and you can't do half the shit on the street you can do in a football game.

So the next bench clearing brawl in hoops or bases we need to prosecute everyone? Drag in lawyers and have trials? What about punching someone in the game with their helmet on? What's the difference? What about hitting a guy with a pitch on purpose? That's assault...right? I mean listen to what you are saying.

I agree with you 100%, Agent.

Should a pitcher that throws at a batter's head be charged with assault? If you threw a baseball at a passerby on the street in the head would you be charged?

i think the problem with the pitcher scenario is proving intent.....that could happen accidentally and it`s hard to prove the pitcher threw at a a batter`s head...it hapens in the context of the game and may not be intentional...might be hard to prove...

now, unless yayo brain slipped on a banana peel and his closed fist accidentally landed on the other kid`s cheekbone, that`s battery...clear and simple.... we have video proof...

merriman?....we don`t have that on video...if it can be proven that he choked the girl(and it sure looks like he did),some jail time is warranted...

you just can`t go around assaulting people because you don`t like what they say or you get p.o.ed.....

No, Agent, bro, you're missing the point because it didn't happen "in" the game.... The game was over. During the game is another situation altogether. Would you think differently if they were walking out of the stadium and he decked him in the parking lot? Does he get a free pass just because they were still on the field even though the game was over?

Law on Assault and Battery

"Consent" is a defense to the intentional tort of battery or any intentional tort for that matter. The consent defense contains 2 elements: 1.) Voluntary acceptance of an intentional tortious act 2.) with full knowledge or understanding of the consequences. (You can see how this would also apply to medical procedures and why you have to sign waivers, etc before undergoing surgery.) The ancient common law applied the Latin maxim, volenti non fit injuria, which translates as, "No wrong may occur to one who is willing."

However, in this case, the game was over and the guy had his helmet off and obviously had not consented to getting jaw-jacked after the game....

The kid should be charged at the least to send a message to the NCAA community as a whole that this kind of act will not be tolerated and is completely unacceptable.

No matter what people think, it was an act of violence. The game was over. Blount should have been cuffed.

How 'bout a fresh twist? What if the white kid, would have clocked the black kid, instead?

You're really taking an interest in this issue. He got 12 games - not enough?

He'll be dead, or doing life in 10 years, so I really don't give two shits about "what he got".

I only ramped it up with the race issue, because this thread has taken some other turns already.

I'm wondering what your point was. I think hitting people is bad form, too - you just seem especially juiced up for this one.

Anyone want to guess what the suspension would have been if the Boise guy blocked the punch? The one that came 2-3 seconds after the woofing? 2 games?

Listen. If one guy says something stupid, and the other guys cracks him, I'd say that guy flew off the handle.

BUT, if you say something, the guy says something back, and now YOU smack him???? I think that makes you an absolute two-faced pussy!

You felt it was ok to run your mouth, but when he does it, you wanna hit him?

That's my point.
