Unbelievable

You said that talent and heart wins heavyweight fights, not size. So I gave you a perfect example of how size can win a heavyweight fight by bringing up Barrett-Valuev. I said that Barrett was much more skilled but Valuev was way too big for him. And now you say that I think Valuev is the best figher in the history of boxing??? WTF?

I said that Valuev was less skilled than Barret and that he won the fight due to his extreme size advantage. How can you turn that into me thinking Valuev is the greatest fighter in the history of boxing???

Btw, Barrett is much more skilled than Valuev...no question. If you really knew boxing...you would already know that.
Barrett hit Valuev with his best right hand several times in the fight, but it had absolutely no effect on the Valuev.

I wonder why?...lol

Sponge you're not even making sence anymore so I refuse to continue wasting my time with this arguement

okay well do i will stand with the expert on this subject Lewis and you keep your opinions.

Is that a joke?

Castillo pressed the action for most of the first fight and forced Mayweather to fight on the inside more than he ever has, and Castillo won that fight imo.

The 2nd fight however, Floyd was on his bicycle.

24 rounds in phonebooth...no

nah box is a legend in here just ask him he will tell you. He knows boxing better than world class trainers. He says barret hit the giant with all he had and had no affect. I saw a punch in the first round that almost knock the freak out. Makes you wonder what he is watching.

sponge,
boxlocks & most of the boxing crew here can counter any dumb little argument you have. we're here to discuss boxing and share winners not bicker about pbf. he's the best in boxing right now in my opinion and he did what he needed to do to win. i see nothing wrong with his performance. box said it best when he said why risk getting knocked out when you know you're not going to knock out your opponent and you're going to win a decision, doesn't make sense to go for the ko. if you haven't watched a lot of mayweather's fights than don't act like you're extremely knowledgable

get off the guys dick. I bet you have a lot of post like this on ever site. Again Jermaine Taylor would never run around like this pussy did this night. Why half the crowd lerft you nitwits.

I was watching Barrett land that same punch 3 or 4 times a round untill Valuev knocked him the f*ck out

Thats what I was watching

OK so they fought 12 rounds in a phonebooth

I forgot Floyd made the necessary adjustment in the rematch, only watched the 2nd fight once and it was a long time ago.

My bad

what is really strange about this is its Mayweather that runs around telling people he is the best fighter in the world. Its Mayweather that says he is by far the best pound for pound fighter in the world. Its mayweather who say "nobody can compete with me". Then he runs around the ring like a little girl. To me if your so confident and everyone is three levels below you then get in there and bang. If your so much better than everyone else than fight the freaking guy. I guess Barkley and Tiger woods thought the same thing because they were bored to tears by the exhibition from this so called greatest fighter on the planet. Leonard, Hearns , Hagler you never saw this kind of stuff. Leonard coming off a long layoff stood their and banged with Hagler. Not pussy footing it all night long. That is a champion. Broken hand crap. Some people will fall for anything. what was broken was his feelings from 20 thousand booing his cowardly way he fought.

Sponge,

What you have to realize is that Mayweather will box and dance and do whatever it takes to win the fight. Winning is the bottom line. You can not blame him for doing what it takes to win as every matchup is different.
As far as him saying he is the best of all time, a lot of fighters say the same thing. how many times have you seen a guy lose and still insist he is the better fighter. Boxers need this kind of self confidence and if they dont have it, they dont belong. I'll grant you that Floyd takes it to another level, but he backs it up by winning.
I dont think he is the best ever myself, at least not at this point. I think he would out manuver Hagler. Hearns length and awkward power would give him problems. And Leonard who is one of the few to match mayweather in tactical skills would out point him. Leonard seems to have had more heart and toughness as well.

By outmaneuver, do you mean beat?

Hagler is a very strong natural 160'lbr

I'm sorry but noway does Mayweather beat Hagler, I find that funny.

sure Leonard beat a slightly faded Hagler, though very controversially...but Sugar Ray is better than Floyd will ever be, plus he had the size too.

Also Hearns was a monster puncher at LMW and never fought below 147. Again huge size difference. Prime for prime, this would be a mismatch.

I agree though that Mayweather is one of the best fighters in the world today, but for me Manny Pacquiao is P4P champ.

lvarc,
yeah I think both leonard & hearns would beat mayweather.. Hearns is too long and powerful and leonard too skillful with power as well.
I think he would frustrate hagler though and out box him to a decision..
who knows

to beat hagler,
mayweather would run and shake his ass all around the ring. This would make guys like sponge, steward, and larry merchant very pissed.
everyone would boo, and we would have the same discussion about pretty boy floyd being such a pussy.

chill my point is if your gonna shove it down our throats on how great you are than go out there and fight. Like i said before for his career and health its the very best way he should fight but if this is what he is gonna do when he has a little bit of a challenge he can forget about huge paydays. You see a guy like Roy Jones. Nobody wants to watch him fight anymore. Im not gonna lie i thought Roy was the best but he did the ssame thing when a tuff fight came up. Just run run run but he did take a chance once in a while. Oh and your comment about Mayweather shaking his ass. If he is gonna do that im not even gonna watch another one of his fights. Id rather see him run lol.

Well yeh he'd have to run all night, since if he got caught by even a few shots by Hagler, he may just be be layed out on the canvas.

The difference in power would just be rediculous, Mayweather would have his trackshoes on, but he wouldn't win any rounds just running around,Hagler is also great at cutting his opp. down and closing the gap

Seriously if you told any purist that you think Mayweather would beat Hagler.... I'm pretty sure they'd laugh at you, no offence but could Mayweather even make 160?

Sponge, I don't think Mayweather cares about future paydays, he's getting $10M+ for fighting Oscar and he's already announced that Oscar will be his last fight....so much for legacy.

do you know if he said anything about his fake hand injury or did it heal itself already? 10 millions seems a bit light for that fight. I wonder if oscar pulled a fast one on him. B hop got 10 million for his fight with oscar and i think oscar got over 20. I can't see mayweather taking anything less than half. Unless nobody wants to see him dance anymore. Maybe after this fight he can go toe to toe with emmit smith and see if he can wrestle opps i mean dance that crown away. I don't even think Bresencov made that much dancing. I havent seen this Margarito kid fight but why is it he wont fight him? Would thiss kid make him fight or is Floyd looking for a rematch with Gotti?

If they were the same weight Hagler would have pulled a "no Mas" He wouldn't want any part of a fight like this. He would be exhausted chasing him.

Nah, Oscar is a god in boxing, he can demand parity in any fight he takes. No way is Mayweather getting 50% here. It will be Oscar that's selling the 1million PPV's and most of the tickets.

Personally I think Margarito has been hyped up abit, he's slightly better than Baldomir and I see Mayweather winning a UD, avoiding most of Tony's wild looping shots, but there is always the chance of getting caught cold..but if Mayweather thinks he's the best ever then he should be fighting his peers at 147 before jumping weight AGAIN.

I want to see Mayweather fight Cotto or Hatton before he retires. I think when Cotto adjusts to 147,he will be a monster.

Btw, Hagler would never quit against someone like Mayweather and it was Duran that pulled the famous "no mas"

Anyway I don't see why this fight is even being discussed, Floyd couldn't even dent Hagler....if Marvin could KO Hearns, Duran, Mugabi, Hamsho, Minter.....you can bet your ass he would of stopped Mayweather, or AT LEAST beaten him...

Note, Mayweather has never fought above 147.

realistically, floyd could never fight at middleweight. He wouldnt even be great at 154. He needs to stay at 147.

i want to see him fight paul williams, who I think is going to be a champion for a long time. This guy is a freak. he just needs some more experience.
reminds me of hearns.
