kevin--

Any time I can be of help, I am at your service.
Sincerely,

Bake McBride

Iowa's legislature got their sh#te together and passed a measure that allows us to NOT to have to declare our 600 bones as income. That was mighty nice of them, don't you
think?
Also, whos SS# are they using for the rebates? Mine ends in 78, but the wife's is 06....
My luck, they use my number......

Sixfive,

I'm the Alberta poster. Where's the hunting? I'm guessing Northern Alberta, but it could be here in the South (I'm 50km over the border).

It's funny how a tax refund seems like a bonus. It's like getting excited about a push from a sportsbook, except the government juice is considerably higher

Redsfann, if you file a joint return. Believe they will use first one on the form.
Yes good for Iowa. Wisky has not said anything yet. Not sure how many here have pops or moms that are on S S and dont file because they earn less then total needed. But they who could use the 300 so bad. They get zero.

not trying to start an arguement or nuthin here, but you gotta remember... This is not a "bonus", this is a refund. A refund for all the people that paid money in now get a little back. Even tho, yes the Soc Sec folks need some added dough to their income, to give them this refund would be very very wrong.

Which leads me to my next question, is EVERYONE over 12k getting this? Or just the people that actually owed money? Also, everything i read says up to $300/500/600. and we all know the government and their shifty language... see what i am gettin at with that? up to... not necessarily 300/500/600. but up to. In other words, what are the chances that i am gonna get a check for $1.87 and a "don't spend it all in one place"?

Just think those that paid there duies have something coming. Upto last year my 82 year old Mom payed taxes. This year she was just under. She worked 47 years and paid. Yes Folks like here deserve 300 bucks. But Thats my thoughts. I have no way (to many younger folks at this site) to win that battle. And I dont care to have one. Like I said to start with up above the tax break is to little to late. And yes the gov will see we have to claim it next tax saeson. The next bill to get us back in charge of our health care may be more important. I know you folks in the service get what they give you as they did me along time ago. But when your back out it will matter.

health care... groooooooooooooooan. ugh! I dont even wanna begin thinking about that ugly monster. That is the only thing that would keep me in the military after my obligation is up the way things are going. Been contemplating doing my 20 years, retiring, and then dying the next day just so i dont have to deal with that mess.

Of course, for those of you who dont know, military health care goes something like this:

patient: Doc, i dont feel good
Doc: here is some motrin

patient #2: Doc, my leg/knee/arm hurts.
Doc: here is some motrin

patient #3: Doc, my left leg fell off and i have a black fungus growing across my chest.
Doc: here is a double dose of motrin.

all you old warhorses know what i am talkin about here. L*

Ozball, we will be flying into Edmonton and driving North and West (I think) from there to the Lesser Slave Lake area. Are u familiar with that? I think it is a prairie type area right on the Flyway. I saw a clip of a guy hunting up there last week, and it was truly amazing.

SixFive,

I've never been north of Edmonton, but the landscape is apparently incredible. I'm about 5 hours drive south of Edmonton, been here for the last 10 years, since emigrating from Australia.

Have fun and enjoy the north.

Here's my two cents worth on the refund.

Doesn't anyone realize we have just been duped in to believing Oil slick Bush is giving us a refund from the government.
When in fact all they did was build up the revenue for the refund with the 50 to 80 cents added to gasoline in the last 5 months since he has been prez.

So,we're all just getting a gas refund.
pretty sad and someone should go to jail.

I'd gladly give the refund back, If we could get the tax cheating, wife cheating, pot smoking, junk food eating, president Clinton back in office.Because I made more money and got to keep more of it when he was in office.

Blah, Blah, Blah this refund is a smoke screen. Uncle sam will get it all back with interest.
