About Bowl Eligible teams....

About Bowl Eligible teams....

I may be way off base here BUT I think that as you handicap games and determine if a team can be bowl eligible I think, and let me repeat, I think we are forgetting one criteria. Yes you need 6 wins, BUT I also believe that the team must be over .500. At least that is the way that I always remembered. A few years back when Ohio State was down, they went 6-6, and did not go to a bowl game. It wasnt because no one invited us...it was because we were not eligible. We had to win the final game against Michigan and they did not do it.

So teams like Northwestern and South Carolina, I do not believe can go to a bowl game as the best they can do is 6-6.

Can someone that knows 100% clarify this for us all? It will play a big decision on my selection for the Illinois/NWestern game.

Thanks

dammit...check that....i am wrong....i read another article, i think that if you have a .500 record you are safe. unless you have a div 1AA win and the team has used another div 1AA win toward bowl eligibility in the last 4 years.

geez.....sorry for the confusion guys

ND still has a shot to go if they win out and only one of West Virginia, Syracuse and BC wins a 7th game.

Would love to see the Irish go to a bowl because they really need the work and it would be even sweeter if they went and both them and BC are 6-6

unlv needs a win at home vs colo st or next week at wyoming.......

wyoming needs 2 wins....last 2 at home vs tough new mexico and unlv........i wouldn`t dismiss wyoming at home....i think they are 2-1 ats at home this year and have a tendency to hang in games at home......of course, new mexico is very hot right now....

I have updated the first post in this thread. Gone are the SEC/Big Ten/Big 12 and Pac-10 as their are not other schools looking to become bowl eligible.

This weekend the plays either on the ML or P/S are:

SU - ML and p/s
WF - ML and p/s
Vir. - ML and p/s
G. Tech - ML and p/s

I think it is worth a shot playing these 4 schools both on the ML and p/s.

Houston needs one more win as well to go to a bowl game.

I am sure I have missed a few from the smaller conferences so please add them in. Thanks,

With the controversy surrounding Solich and the way Nebraska has looked the past few games, I really like Colorado plus a field goal on Friday.
