hard to tell if Rafa is getting better with more (tough) matches or a little fatigued...
given that it's unlikely you'll get such odds against him for the rest of the yr, and if u passed y'day, then yeah i think it's worth a play for u... shame PHM is so flakey, I never know what I'm gonna get with that guy... that's prob a good separate thread, players who u hate to back or fade and those u love to back or fade...

The only tennis I've been able to watch this week is the Ho's Proximus Diamond tourney in Belgium (insert yawn here). The painful experience may pay-off though as Savchuk is game-on to beat Petrova @ + 545! I kept expecting her to suffer a mental collapse against Hantuchova like all the other little girls in Ho's tennis.....but it never happenned. She was solid to the end. She is not far off in talent to win this one if she can stay mentally tough. I don't consider Petrova to be solid upstairs anyway.

2 unit play.

Schnyder is a perfect example of great talent but no brains. I hope that she remembers that a serious effort against Mauresmo in Australia would have saw her holding the Major trophy. I'm still in disbelief over how Mauresmo won that tournament by 4 no-shows and 3 retirements. Anyway.....Schnyder @ +453.

Hidalgo @ +270 to beat Moya

Ancic @ +226 to beat Lubie

Korolev @ +500 to beat Grosjean

Clement @ +190 to beat Santoro (2u)

Mathieu @ +340 to beat Nadal (2u)

Schnyder is a loser.....sounds like you watched it too. All that talent wasted. I mean Schnyder won 4 games in the 2nd set despite coughing up laugher points and showing no interest. This goes to what I was saying earlier about refusing to pay these amatuers. What's the difference between The Fed getting in chit for giving up and 90% of the ho's that basically don't show up. Even the winners rarely have to work for a victory. Why do sponsors put up so much money for low quality events? Even the seats are empty until the finals of a WTA event.

That is nutz!!!!!! I talked to a tennis oddsmaker who said that Hidalgo has been under suspicion of fixing before but it doesn't make sense here as the price on Moya was crap to begin with. A false rumour to drive his price up makes sense and is supposedly part of the mentioned suspicions (if he thought he was going to win). The most likely scenario would be the flu or an injury.

So what are you saying? That there is a rumor that he will throw the match? Do you know if he is injured? I'm considering throwing another .25 unit on the play...

I'd stay away from it (although I already bet Hidalgo). I don't think he throws it as a there was never any value on Moya to begin with. I was just referring to the fact that he has previously been involved in 'dodgy' matches. My guess is a bug (flu).....maybe an injury. Maybe someone else has live coverage that can enlighten us.

Roddick seems to be very beatable these days but a good showing for Murray nonetheless. If he keeps his head, he can beat that annoying little chit Hewitt.

Murray @ +219 to beat Hewitt

Thinking about Clement to pull the home crowd upset over Ancic but I'll wait to see if Anders likes it.

Hoe's;

We may actually have a watchable match between Clijsters and Mauresmo. Clijsters showed her good stuff as usual yesterday while Mauresmo actually 'earned' her first win of 2006 (the rest have been gifts). Without the boring details......chick favs keep winning and I priced Clijsters at around -145......but no surprise if Mauresmo pulls it out.

Clitsers @ -111 to beat Maurlesbo (2u)

Taking a shot on Hewitt -246 over Murray, also Hewitt 2-0 sets @ +129.

I think Hewitt has something to prove after his poor showing at the Australian. He has yet to drop a set in this tourney, and Murray was nearly dead in the water against Soderling. And beating Roddick these days doesn't seem to be as big a feat as it once was... so giving Hewitt a try.

Yea what's up with A-Rod? I think he's into wine and woman more than tennis these days. Can't say I blame him. I am wondering if he is still suffering from the same back problems that he had to end 2005 but I haven't heard anything conclusive. A definite go against these days.

I think he made a big mistake when he got rid of Coach Gilbert.

Also, Rod Laver (I believe it was Laver) commented at Davis Cup that Roddick should try to keep the points short. He gets in too many long rallies. He's a big boy. He doesn't need to be running as much as he does.

Seems like he's all serve and not much substance. I've lost enough on him in the past. I'm done backing him.

Anders, we should definitely get a thread going with players to back/fade. Roddick is definitely on my blacklist.

I have to say I thought Hewitt was going to win on pure class up until the dying moments.
Totally out-played but still fought to the wire. I would be curious to see the price on these 2 matching up again because I still think Hewitt would be the favourite but Murray will not lose armed with a new confidence.

On the topic of players to back or fade, Murray has been the most consistent money-maker for me for the last year when he's the dog. He bailed out my sorry ass again today and yesterday. I think it's because he's always a wild card or unseeded....never won a title until today.

Players to fade....Roddick for sure but easily topping the list for me is Tiny Tim Henman. I have made more off this one thing than all sports combined......and the best part of it....it requires no thinking. (bit of money management)

It would be interesting to hear other people's stories.
