well............time for a new tennis season :tongue

going to start it off with some Future picks on the Hopman Cup :)

Canada $201.00 *1 unit

Belgium $4.00 *3 units

hey....why not take a shot on the Canadians at massive odds :D After all this is just an exhib tourney....so hey...anything can happen. But keep in mind....the girls really want to beat the guys.....so when they play mixed.....it gets heated  Also, might be a possibility of Hewitt and Clijsters playing each other....those two are enganged to one another......that could be interesting :tongue

PETRA MANDULA beat ALICIA MOLIK $2.50 * 3 units

sure I'm going against Molik playing in front of home crowd....but Mandula played yesterday (looked good) and Molik hasn't played a competitive match in a long long time..........worth a shot at the doggy :)

(Madjack sponsor 5dimes has a good price on Mandula)

ASB BANK CLASSIC (WOMEN?S), AUCKLAND:

OUTRIGHT PLAY:
Anna Smashnova-Pistolesi +275 (2 units)

A solid price on a player ranked 16th in the world and the second seed for this tournament.
The Israeli won this tournament in 2002 when she started the new year on a red-hot streak. She also won her next tournament in Canberra amidst a 10-0 run.
Last year, Smashnova-Pistolesi made the semifinals of this event before succumbing to heat exhaustion in her semifinal and retiring. It will be warm again in Auckland this week but not overpowering and she will be well prepared after last year?s experience.
She captured two WTA titles in 2003 in July and August and was a solid performer towards the end of the season.
Given her class, she should progress thru to the latter stages of a tournament that saw top seed Jelena Dokic withdraw on Saturday (NZ time) ? she meets Ukranian journey-woman Julia Vakulenko in the first round.
And that?s when she provides top value ? Smashnova-Pistolesi has an 8-0 record in WTA finals.
Will back the proven performer with an excellent January background.

MATCHUPS:

CERVANOVA $2.10 V BARNA (1 UNIT)

Was hoping to get a good price on Barna in her 1st rd game if the draw worked out differently as she?s a rising star who made the 3rd rd of the Aus Open last yr before losing 6-1, 6-4 to Venus Williams. Also lost in 3 to Henin-Hardenne in Feb ?03 and bt Krasnoroutskaya at the US Open.
However, Cervanova won twice against Barna last yr and made the 2nd rd at 3 Slams ? so I?ll take the books on here.

MIKAELIAN $1.95 V FRAZIER (2 UNITS)

Frazier was a finalist at Hobart last yr in Jan but rarely achieved anything more of note in 2003. Mikaelian started last yr well with a win over Schnyder at the Gold Coast in making the semis and was ranked as high as #35 last yr despite injuries halting her progress in Feb/Mar and again late season. Had wins over Sugiyama and Shaughnessy and is well-priced here with the class to win.

VENTO-KABCHI $1.65 V BLACK (1 UNIT)
Black bt Husarova here last yr and did have a win over Smashnova-Pistolesi in March but is virtually a doubles specialist on the tour these days. Vento-Kabchi was a big climber last yr, jumping from 179 into the top 50 rankings and should kick off her year well.
