Texas -2.5 over Georgia ****
Bulldogs won their 1st game and like Sark said " We couldn't run the ball so our qb's to a lot of heat and we failed. Think Texas has improved in rushing the ball and pass protection . Gibson fumbled so Stark made him carry a football to all his classes and to a media day press conference. Just a reminder that he cannot create a turnover or fumble in this game. Ewers threw a few interceptions and with Manning close by think Bulldogs could be in trouble. Texas Off line will open up some holes for Wisner and Blue and protect their QB But Its Texas Defense to me is their strength. They are athletic and quick. Geo has some future NFL players on the line but Texas D isn't talked enough Think they can hold Beck in check and slow down Geo rushing attack . Texas gets a rematch to a loss the 1st time. THey get to watch and improve on everything they did wrong the 1st time they played. SEC championship game goes to the Longhorns . And Bevo was not allowed in the Stadium Don't know why but maybe they are worried about the bulldog . Bevo is sedated anyway . But think Sark has his Longhorns ready for a winning and cover day. Go Longhorns Think they win bta touchdown or two And if Ewers isn't effective you have Manning as his backup . Not a bad backup ... Longhorns win by 7-10 pts

Agree. This will be a different Texas team than Georgia saw in the first game. Sark will have some plays that no one has seen yet this season. Arch will get some meaningful plays to keep Georgia on their heels. It's tough to beat a good team twice in a season. Texas wins this game.

Why Box...... Why......... 😩
Remember, when we were in Austin, you were drinking the Juice, back in October?
Was a Great Time!

After the Georgia Tech game, I think GA lost a lot of their steam..... Texas has a Lotta momentum. They have looked great!
I'm going w the DAWGZ small, though.
Wager is not big enough to post.
Should be a good game

I hate to admit that the longer I live in Austin the more I become a homer. But its there defense that amazes me. Everybody is always talking about Ewers, Manning wr's rb's etc This defesne is so good it gets over looked . They are strong up front, They have LB's and db's that can tackle and cover Think Beck the Bulldog QB see's different formations and has some trouble trying to figure it out what the Texas is doing. When you play someone again in the same season as a basketball coach I think the 2nd time we play them the losing team plays better in the rematch. The coach usually works in practice on what we did wrong the 1st time. After watching the video of the 1st game you as the coach can improve on the mistakes you made. THe team that won the 1st time doesn't even want to rewatch the 1st game. I'm not sure if football is different . I have no reliable statistics on teams that already played each other .In my basketball league we always played our conference teams 2 times. But although my memory is faint I know if we lost to a team the 1st time we always played better the 2nd time. And my teams actually player better at away gyms because they were bigger gyms. I have no stats what so ever . I just think Sark the Texas coach has done somethings with his team to be more motivated. And I think Manning will be a part of it.. Kirby Smart I'm sure is also doing things to get his team motivated but in the heads of the Bulldogs you still have " we already beat them the 1st time" Just my take on teams playing each other twice. Football is quite different then hoops .Gotta run and eat some orange ice cream with my desert today Good luck to everyone. Going to a big 70th birthday party this afternoon . My racquetball buddy a big time Longhorn fan has his house decorated for his birthday party in Orange and white. There will be about 35 people at the party. Everyone there will be cheering the Longhorns but me and my wife. She still thinks we are cheering Marist Red Foxes in hoops . Take care

Wow Georgia had control of this game My bad.. I was at a party with about 35 Longhorn fans, They were so loud and complaining on every single call the refs are. I couldn't hear anything . Did Manning play at all. It was so loud and Texans were screaming on almost every play. There was no sound just a big 54' inch screen TV and people yelling " pass interference, holding etc etc. I knew I was in trouble and although watching the game with die hard Longhorn fans screaming on almost every call not sure if the officiating was one .... sided .. You couldn't hear anything from the TV announcers with all the people screaming at the TV. I know I lost and accepted that. Was there any controversy. Many people were saying the SEC officials would not let a new comer in the conference to win the Championship. I never saw Manning. Not sure if he even played and if he didn't did the announcers say why.. I lost so I'm not making any excuses. Poor capping on my part .

I thought that Texas would cover this easily also. at some point, I thought they might use Manning throughout the game to initiate the threat of his ability to run. I thought wrong guess that's why I'm not a coach. Thanks for your ride ups. I followed you for years. I guess I need to stay with baseball and hockey. Hope you and your family enjoy the holidays.

hey, box. every time i hear "marist red foxes", i think about maybe the best win i was ever part of. i think you'll enjoy this story.

i played football at siena. our season opener one year was at marist. they were ranked preseason (#23, i think). we were... not very good (1-8 the previous season, with the only win over Gallaudet). however, one day during practice, a mangey red fox came out of the woods and trotted across our practice field. for whatever stupid reason, we took that as a sign that we were going to win. i remember andy o'farrell, our starting center, yelling on the bus on the way to Poughkeepsie, "stick a fork in Marist, they're done." anyway, just before halftime, we scored to tie the game at 6. we walked off the field like we'd just won the super bowl. i remember looking back and seeing the Marist players walking off with their heads hung low. we scored our first possession of the 2nd half to go up 13-7, and held on to win 13-12.

all because of that red fox on the field at practice.

i'll go out on a limb and say they're written by people who've never placed a bet. i don't even completely understand the "logic" behind them. i always assumed it's because, being in NY, they think i'm more likely to be involved with fixing games in NY. But i'm closer to Boston and Storrs than I am to Buffalo, but I can bet on BC or UConn. so if that's the reason, it doesn't make sense.

ok, i just googled it. not 100% sure, but it looks like it's probably because they are concerned about the athletes themselves wagering on their games. which is understandable, but still kinda dumb. A) I assume most young people are savvy enough to get around location requirements, B) with NIL money, it's even less likely that these guys are fixing games, and C) if you're going to be fixing games, you're probably going to wager a high enough amount to call some attention to yourself.

ok, no more bitching. i'm just glad NY legalized it. i went about a year after my bookie died without placing any bets. that was painful.

Box, I apologize for hijacking your thread.

I can't believe that your bookie would do that to you, jeez!! After all you did for him?? 😆
Interesting, I was wondering the same, thanks for the explanation.
