Kessler hasn't given up, for sure. But Calzaghe is dominating. Thru 11 9 rounds - Calzaghe, 2 for Kessler

Very impressive fight for Zags. Zags just sold me. He's a great fighter and perhaps one of the top 3 @168 ever. I picked zags by close dec but the +170 lured me....damn

Great fight by Calzaghe.
The fiirst six rounds were good and very open but Calzaghe showed great stamina in the second half of the fight.
Cost me a bunch but all the credit to Calzaghe.

"the bunker"
i recorded it on dvd.........but it sounds like joe`s skillset was a little to diversified for a strong but a bit one-dimensional kessler...his speed and workrate were to much....

kessler had serious balls to fight calzaghe in wales....imo,not the smartest decision....

i`ll watch it tonight after marquez/juarez.....sounded like a really solid fight....

way to go,joe...

"the bunker"
watched the fight and i thought it was closer than letterman had it...

kessler looked strong...and he did look to be the bigger puncher...calzaghe did hurt him to the body,though.....

and i didn`t disagree with ortega stopping the action after the body shot and then a shot on the back of kessler`s head....calzaghe hit on the back of the head an awful lot....he`s lucky he didn`t lose a point...

i had it very close through 7.....the difference appeared to me to be that kessler seemed to hit the wall or get discouraged from rd 8 through 11.....and i was shocked at how negative his corner was.....i think his corner`s negativity affected kessler.....terrible corner work...no end-swell......just poor work,imo..

i don`t think calzaghe, aside from some body shots, was punching particularly hard......he just out-worked and out-slicked kessler....he did control the pace of the fight...

kassler had a fantastic round 12....he tried to end it....and i think he shook calzaghe in round 12.....

a really good fight...lived up to expectations...

on to cotto/mosley....

calzaghe hurt Kessler a few times too.
Kessler said that he was badly hurt when the ref warned Cal for hitting the back of the head.
Infact i first thought the ref wanted to stop the fight. I was going nuts in front of the tv
Surprisingly he could land his jab and Kessler couldnt. Thats a very important point in this fight.
Calzaghe has thrown over a 1000 punches in this fight.
I hoped that the second half of the fight would be all Kessler but Cal is a very smart fighter.
Its a shame that he pretty much wasted the best part of his boxing life.
He should have unified the belts a long time ago.
Dawson vs Cal would be pretty awesome and the best fight at 175 and below.

Dawson vs Calzaghe would be awesome? Calzaghe would dominate him. Adamzek or however you spell it could of had him after that knockdown if he had the heart and Adamzek is nothing special. I thought he lost the Briggs rematch.

I thought the fight was a lot closer then everyone else seems to think. I had Calzaghe barely winning. I thought it was kind of similar to the Hatton vs Collazo fight. I thought Kessler might have gotten the better of him but Calzaghe won on points.

Kessler almost decapitated him with some of those shots in the 12th. This was an awesome fight on a unbelievably high level. It was a Super Fight. With the exception of Calzaghe I think Kessler can take anyone from 160-175.

It looks like Hopkins/Calzahe will get made and that the Welsh is coming over here. If thats anywhere close to an even line Im on Calzaghe huge. I dont care if its at 175.

The Vegas casinos will probably be the best for Calzaghe backers as opposed to offshore. They'll probably give Hopkins too much respect.

Thats when you take your schlong out and get em in the pooper.

I'll have Franks throw a few dimes on it for me when it comes out then fly over there and settle up.

I agree, I thought the fight was very close 115-113 seems to be right to me.
Kessler sometimes looked befuddled by Calzaghes movement and speed.

I was actually going to hedge my Kessler points bet, but I was too lazy and when I made up my mind the line had already moved big time.

Calzaghe is probably too active for Hopkins...

Well, anyways, Calzahge now has to be considered one of the finest fighters of our time....

Calzage definitely threw and landed more punches and Kessler even looked worse after the fight. But I just think that Kessler hit him with the harder punches and hurt him more. I know Joe hurt Kessler a couple of times too but Kessler landed a lot of hard shots on Calzaghe.

But Calzaghe kept making adjustments and found a way to win. But it was a damn close fight in my opinion.

And exactly, Calzaghe is just too active for Hopkins. He probably wont knock him out but I just dont see how Hopkins could knock him out or out point him.

I ve been thinking a bit about this fight.

In the beginning Calzaghe tried to brawl a bit with kessler, then after taking some sick uppercuts he tried to stick to boxing more.

He used his jab and his movement and it seemed to take Kessler until the last round until he figured out a way to deal with that, i.e. to neglect his boxing and fire away...
