Really? Wow.

To protect you from a life changing illness or event. Say a bad car accident. Say breaking your leg skiing. In either case, bills could run $25-$30K.

It is a relief only paying $1,000 out of pocket in that case.

The small stuff - that should be on us. If you want all the maintenance stuff covered, then you'll just pay a much higher premium.

Pretty simple stuff. Imagine how much your car insurance would be if they had to pay for car washes, oil and filter changes, brakes, etc......

Insurance, by definition, is to cover UNEXPECTED events, not routine day to day expenses that one can reasonably budget for.
Who says the "small stuff" should be on us, Mags? Maybe $1000 is small stuff to you but it's not to a lot of people.

You're equating health insurance to car insurance? I've gotta wonder why my employer doesn't provide me with car insurance then? Or why the government doesn't provide me with car insurance when I turn 65? Maybe it's because one is a necessity of life and the other is not? Sure, there are those who roll the dice but it's because they know if they're in a car accident tomorrow, the EMT's and ER doctors aren't going to let them bleed to death because they don't have insurance.

Civilized societies take care of their people.

Who are you to decide how much insurance others should have?

I have as much as I'm willing to pay for, and it's none of your business. It''s between me and my insurers, one of which is the US government. I pay premiums for Part B, and I buy a deluxe supplemental plan from a private insurer. IN addition to insuring my daily driven cars and house, I have one zero deductible auto policy on one car, and a million dollar umbrella policy. That's how I plan ahead for unexpected expenses, small up to very large. My money, my choice.

Stick your head in a badger hole, jerkoff.

It just amazes me how much you fit the stereotype of old angry guy.

Your life must be very poor and sad. I do feel sorry for you.
