Only read below after you have watched the film.........

On March 5, 2010, Hank Chien became the new Donkey Kong world record holder, scoring 1,061,700 points.

:0060 Poor Weibe

And that asshole douche Billy clearly doctored that tape he sent in. Billy may just be the biggest douche in documentary history:SIB

Great movie. That one guy's entire life revolved around being the best at Donkey Kong. I'm surprised he didn't kill himself when he lost the record. :mj07:

I am on team Billy Mitchell.

They guy was a douche but was a wiz with the joystick.

His antics in the dvd reminded me of the Seinfeld episode where Jerry refused to race again.

Billy Mitchell stats:

Arcade rankings:
Pacman #1 high score all time (3,333,360)
Burgertime 2nd high score all time
Donkey Kong 2nd high score all time
Donkey Kong Jr. 4th high score
Centipede 5th high score
Ms. Pacman 6th high score
Zaxxon 23rd high score

Those are some sick stats like him or not.

I CHOOSE NOT TO RACE! :mj07: :mj07:

I see that Billy Mitchell was good at Burgertime. Burgertime fucking rocked the shit. Now there's a game I could play for hours on end. They just don't make them like they used to. :sadwave:

Actually Billy score 7,881,050 to be exact but the all time score on Burger Time is 11,512,500 by Bryan Wagner. :scared

That's ridiculous. How long would that game go on, like 10 hours?

I'll always remember when I was a kid there was this convenience store by my house that had a Ms. Pac Man machine that I used to play. There was a couple that would go there regularly and they were so good that they would bring lunch/dinner with them because there games went on so long. :scared

I still play Ms. Pac Man at a bar nearby. Got 157k last week and thought I was the greatest nerd of all time.

My favorite game was Food Fight. Anybody remember that one? You had to get from one side of the screen to the other by picking up piles of random food and throwing them at the bad guys.

Ms. Pac Man all time high score is 933,580 so you got some work to do.

Although if you can verify the score then you can get in the top 30 all time. :0074

Eyal Cohen got nuthin on me!

:mj07: ...I see that the 70th score is only 4,000 so I guess not to many ppl are submitting scores. My goal was 150k so I may go into retirement. The game is just to frantic at that level. Stay alive and pray for bananas and pears is all you can do.

Twin Galaxies only takes mail in verification for people they know and trust.
The rest of the scores are verified at their arcade. I am guessing they gave up tracking scores not top 10 type or people just not going in and demanding the credit for a score.

On the course!
I could crack 200K on Ms Pacman back in my teens. I never got very far once the game "slowed" down though.

One friend and I got to the point where we could eat every ghost that you could, so that helped the score quite a bit.

Yeah, I can certainly do that in the early rounds, but once you get near 150k the ghosts don't even become edible anymore on most rounds. It's all dodging and eating fruits at that point.

I noticed there is a 'slow' and 'fast' version of the game. The slow one is completely unplayable.

Love all this 'shop talk'.

Resurrecting this one!

I listen to a "golf adjacent" podcast called the Trap Draw and they just talked for an hour and 45 minutes about this hour and 30 minute documentary:mj07:

I had to watch it again so I did and it was even better the 2nd time around. Then, this morning, I check my podcast feed and Steve Wiebe is being interviewed on the Trap Draw!!! It's soooooo good.
